Yesterday’s reactivity training session ended very well. Although I have undergone a few individual training sessions with the 2 dogs, Both dogs have very good reasons for not being totally relaxed around others.
Through patience and controlled desensitisation, these 2 managed to control those big feelings and, although not actually friends by the end of the session, they were certainly happy to tolerate each other in a relaxed and acceptable manner. Well done Seb and Freddie. A huge step forward for both of you 😊

I read a series of posts the other day that talked about Hobbyist dog walkers and how willing they are to take a risk with your dogs, usually with no insurance.

I see regular posts in community groups or people asking for recommendations with comments such as “I’ll do it for a fiver”. That fiver wouldn’t even cover my dog walker insurance (that gives peace of mind if the worst should happen whilst dogs are in my care), let alone my van costs (that allows me to transport your dogs safely), or my diesel, business insurance, first aid training costs, CPD costs, client database fees, I could go on.

Group walks are carefully selected for the best enjoyment of your dogs, there have been occasions where I have had to sadly let dogs go due to unsuitability for my groups dynamic, again, to ensure your dogs are happy, safe and allowed to exhibit all natural behaviours that they should be.

So next time someone seems like a bargain, or you feel your walker is too expensive, or you think it’s ’easy money’ being a dog walker, remember, there is an awful lot that a ‘real’ dog walker covers so that you can be safe in the knowledge that your dogs are being cared for by a true professional.

Just a quick post as there are so many looking for boarding.

I am asked a lot if I would refer anyone. As you know I have met a few boarders lately and it is so hard to find solo boarders without resident pets as so many dogs need their own space and can not be boarded with other dogs or cats or children in some cases. Our licence does state no children under 5 to reside in the boarding property.

Solo boarding is just that. A home from home where there are no other dogs about unless the boarding dogs are from the same family then that's OK. I take up to Two.

There are groups/pages I do know of that are run by others where licences are checked before they can join that page as a boarder but that is all I know about the boarders.

There are so many people offering home boarding out there and whoever you do choose please ask to see their licence or call the council to check as they will be listed with them.

It is so important as no licence means no valid insurance.

Also check to see if the transport dogs travel in to has business insurance as this also is important as if anything happens there will be no cover.
