Halloween is quickly approaching so, what are the SPOOKY HALLOWEEN DANGERS to watch out for? 🎃
Chocolate - Chocolate contains a toxin called 'Theobromine' which can be poisonous to dogs. Generally the more darker/expensive the chocolate the more theobromine it contains.
If your dog eats chocolate be sure to call your local vets!
Sweets - After eating a lot of sweets or sugar it can lead to pancreatitis in dogs. This can cause them to be off their food, be sick, have an upset stomach, tired and possible organ failure.
Choking risks - Sweets wrappers, lollipop sticks, food containers or even parts of your Halloween costume can be a choking hazard for our pets. Signs of blockage can be off their food, being sick, tired and constipation.
Carved Pumpkins - Keep all candles and candle lit pumpkins out of reach of waggy tails and nosy noses. A knocked over candle can cause harm to your dog and your home.
If you're using battery operated candles the battery inside can be very harmful to dogs!!
Trick or Treaters - Frequent calls at the door can cause some pets to become stressed and anxious. Take extra pre-cautions and keep your dog in a safe place.
If your dog has eaten something they shouldn't have this Halloween or caused harm to themselves, call your local vets or emergency out of hours line.
