Feeding our sulcata! 🐢🌾
A question we are always asked is how we feed our tortoises over the winter and especially our large sulcata who is nearly 20 years old and over 30kg in weight.
This mix is something made up every day for all our species and they all love it! With grassland pellets, mixed grass pellets, tesudo pre-alpin and mazuri original tortoise diet all mixed and soaked together it works as a great supplement with loads of added (and often missing) essential fibre and lots of nutrients that can be hard to achieve from fresh foods in the winter.
This mix is then mixed up with cucumber for a good water content and any wild foods that happen to be still growing outside. We also add some extra calcium to this just to make sure that is well covered in their diet.
We have a lot of tortoises ourselves so we know how hard it can over these months and have found this mix a great balance with all 15 of our species!
