It’s so important to listen to your dog’s body language - this boy displays ‘aggression’ when he meets others dogs - but, once the adrenaline has gone - he is able to tell his mum how he really feels about that stranger. This doesn’t mean that the initial reaction can be excused, it means that it might not need to be treated the way you first think……..

A wonderful (if emotionally draining for his mum) 2 hour session with this little rescue boy Max today - his fear (sometimes violent reaction) to being groomed has lead this boy to be uncomfortable due to mats and knots leading to further issues - his lovely parents wanted him to have help with his issues rather than follow a sedation/ clip route - today was the second visit to help Max and his parents - we removed all his knots and he accepted both brush and comb today - mum and dad will now work gently with him daily, this little boy has a lot of issues from his previous life and it’s wonderful to see his new parents want to see him happy and confident in the future - a real feel good day 🥰

2 great lessons this week with Max and Ben - sadly the only picture I took was of the beautiful coral snake that lives in Max’s house 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ - I will make sure I get pics of the two gorgeous boys when I return to each of their houses 🥰🥰🥰

Lovely session with Tiggs and Ellie in the beautiful grounds of Caldicot Castle this morning, these girls struggle to contain their excitement and can become very active and vocal around unknown dogs, so, you can understand their mum’s happiness at seeing these energetic girls acting like real ladies in this encounter 🥰🥰 - keep up the good work 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Met this beautiful lady today - a victim of the breeding farms created over the puppy boom in Lockdown - this beautiful girl - now named Aoife (Eva)- is around 4 years old - she has a huge mountain to climb, socialising and meeting the world - this includes houses, TV’s, Windows and all manner of things we take for granted - I will support this lady and others like her every step of the way to their rehabilitation- hope to post updates on this girl in time 🥰🥰🥰

A tell tale sign that dogs have worked their brains rather than their bodies during a session - really wonderful session with these two today - never ceases to amaze me just how intelligent, man’s best friend really is 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Great to meet the beautiful Banner today (sorry forgot a pic) - a beautiful and complex spaniel, reminds me of a boy called Oakley I worked with a while back - look forward to helping his parents over the next few weeks xx

Finally Covid free and back out giving lessons 🥰🥰 - early start this morning to avoid the heat with the beautiful Tiggs ♥️- Tiggs is a rescue struggling with her excitement/nerves when she sees dogs and men. Tiggs and her mum are doing really well (much better than her mum gives herself credit for 😉) - if you see Tiggs out and about and her mum crosses the road away from you, it’s not because Tiggs is nasty, it’s just her mum helping Tiggs get the space she needs until she’s a bit braver 🥰🥰🥰

Wonderful session with these guys today - the two collie’s struggle with other dogs company. Their parents have tried introducing them to their human daughter’s dog ‘Percy’ for a long time without success - today for the very first time they all walked together off lead, all the dog’s excitement and nerve levels still need to be helped, but this first positive experience is worth it’s weight in gold - everybody now actually sees what they are working toward. A family that are a real pleasure to work with 🥰

I have been working with a couple of collies recently…. together, they have issues with other dogs, when separated I am now getting to show their parents each’s true underlying insecurity - both girls are doing amazing - and their parents are too - love coming away from session with that warm glow 🥰

Our politicians should watch this before they start waging war on Pen Farthing - sometimes, when ‘someone (human or animal)stands by you through hell and walks you out the other side - their significance to you is almost impossible to convey to another, but that never makes it invalid.

Archie has trouble paying attention and not trying to chase every furry thing he sees 🤣🥰 - we are taking his training to one of his most exciting spaces. Being such a clever boy, he really enjoyed some brain work with his mum, long way to go but great progress 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I have seen this post on my feed a couple of times already this morning.

IT IS NOT TRUE!!

Using iced treats to help keep your dogs cool is a great idea!

There are lots of recipes online and as well as keeping their temperature down, they also keep them entertained without being too active. Which is vital to prevent heat stroke in the weather we are going to have this weekend.

For correct advice keeping dogs cool and how to treat and prevent heatstroke visit www.heatstroke.dog and their page Hot Dogs - canine heatstroke education for dog owners!

We have an Amber warning for heat across South Wales between now and Thursday evening. Please, please take extra care when taking your dogs out - temperatures are not dropping at night, so even early morning and late evening walks should be kept to a minimum - adding ice cubes to your dogs water bowl is a great way of helping them lower their body temperature xx

Bailey the Labrador started lesson with us a few weeks ago, among other nervousness issues, her owners wanted her to be able to control her excitement and enthusiasm around their cat Oscar, who was pretty much demoted to the garage so bad were Bailey’s boisterous ways!! very excited to receive this footage from her owners today - I know they are filled with pride at how far Bailey and themselves have come in creating a calm, happy house hold for all of them and Oscar - really well done to her devoted parents 😍😍😍😘🥰🥰

Well done to Abbie, Gianni and most importantly Denzel - Denzel struggles with fear and nerves around people, today we helped him on those first steps to overcoming them. 45 minutes in Caldicot, no meetings today - just time to let him watch people, children, other dogs and even encounter a few electric chairs!! All from a safe distance - he settled so well - and even lay down for a few minutes!! ❤️ lovely to see such relaxed body language as we headed back to the car to go home - a really successful day - well done Denzel 🏆 ❤️🤩

Brilliant and funny lesson with Bailey this evening, this girl is so intelligent and full of energy, tonight we put her and her mum under pressure - obedience lesson on Undy FC field - both challenged to the full and came through with flying colours - this is Bailey practicing ‘leave’, what you can’t see is full football practice going on to our left - I brim with pride for this little lady- I know her parents feel it twice as much - still a few woofs at other dogs and strangers and a way to go, but family firmly on a good path 🥰🥰

17/06/2021

Great progress made with Bailey the worried Labrador this evening, encountered a problem, 3 dogs and walked passed a football game! ⚽️ Clever girl took it all in her stride - her parents and I are very proud of her - well done Bailey 🥰

Lovely lesson with Denzel the Collie today, he struggles with nerves around strangers - made great steps, hopefully be able to post pictures of him next week 🥰

13/05/2021

Had a lovely session with Bailey the Labrador this evening, she’s learning to control her excitement and be a bit more polite with Oscar the cat 🥰, first steps to a happy peaceful household xx
