Officers are appealing for information following a suspected livestock attack in Stirling.

The incident happened around 6pm on Tuesday, 2 April, 2024 on a farm in the Leny Feus area of Callander.

Three lambs were found dead on the farm and a pregnant ewe had to be euthanised having collapsed from suspected exhaustion.

Officers believe they were attacked by at least one dog.

Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. Officers are particularly keen to speak to three men who were in the area at the time with a black and white cocker spaniel.

Inspector Andy Bushell said: “We all love seeing the lambs in the countryside at this time of year but unfortunately attacks by dogs on livestock can have devastating and appalling results.

“Under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) (Scotland) Act 2021 owners can face prosecution if their pet attacks livestock and we are urging everyone to keep their dogs on a lead or under close control at all times and don't take your dog into fields where there are lambs, calves or other young farm animals.
“We are asking everyone to be considerate when out and about in our rural areas. If you are a dog owner then it is your responsibility to keep them under control."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting the reference 1423 of 3 April.

New registration requirements for bird keepers in Great Britain - all bird keepers must register their birds and update records annually.
In England and Wales keepers are encouraged to register their birds ahead of the legal deadline on 1 October 2024. In Scotland, keepers should register from 1 September 2024 when there will be a new Scottish Kept Bird Register in place.
Under the changes announced there will be new requirements for all bird keepers - regardless of the size of their flock - to officially register their birds. Currently only those who keep 50 or more poultry must do so, limiting the effectiveness of our national disease control measures.

A stove fan aims to prevent your stove from creating hot and cold spots in the room. They are designed to circulate the warm air created by your stove, distributing it evenly around the space by directing the warm air away from the fireplace and flue.
