New Year, New Faces! 😁🐾

Some of you have already met Steph, but I am thrilled to say she is joining us on a part time, self-employed basis from next week!

This means we can FINALLY welcome some new doggies through our doors after having our books closed for several years!!

Steph relocated from Weston Super Mare, and when I first met her last summer I knew instantly she would be a perfect fit to our Vanity Fur family… welcome to the team! ❤️

As we come to the end of another fabulous year here at Vanity Fur, I would just like to take this moment to thank our incredible clients for your continued loyalty and support!
To know that you trust us to pamper your furry family members means everything and I thank my lucky stars daily that I get to call this my ‘job’, although it is so much more than that ❤️

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and we look forward to reopening the doors on the 2nd January after a well earned rest!

**Why VAT Is a Strain on Small Businesses Like Ours**

Dear Dogs Rock Family,

As a small business, we feel the impact of VAT more than most people might realise, and we want to share why it’s such a challenge for us. We hope everyone received our previous email, and we want to thank those who have already shown us so much understanding.

**VAT Doesn’t Benefit Small Service-Based Businesses**

When you hear that we’re now adding 20% VAT, it might seem like it’s just a standard tax or that it’s somehow helping our business grow. But here’s the truth: VAT doesn’t put a single extra penny in our pockets. Every bit of that 20% goes directly to the government. For a small service based business like ours, where most earnings go to pay our dedicated team, cover rent, and maintain equipment, VAT is just an added burden. It’s a constant pressure on us without any added benefit.

**How VAT Hits Harder on Small Businesses**

Unlike larger companies that have high profit margins and economies of scale, small businesses like Dogs Rock Ltd operate on tight budgets. With only three staff members and a limited capacity to serve clients, we don’t have the luxury of spreading out our costs or absorbing VAT in a way that doesn’t affect pricing. The VAT we collect doesn’t improve our services, pay our staff more, or cover our rent, it simply adds a layer of cost that we’re forced to pass on to you.

**Why This Is Frustrating for Us—and Likely for You**

This tax threshold is a one-size-fits-all rule based on turnover and not profit, that doesn’t account for the unique challenges of small, local businesses. Hitting the VAT threshold doesn’t mean we’re rolling in cash; it just means we’re doing well enough to be hit with yet another tax. For businesses like ours, that 20% is painful because it makes us less competitive while we’re simply trying to stay afloat and grow responsibly.

**Introducing a Fairer Pricing Structure**

To help address these challenges and ensure we provide value for everyone, we’ll be introducing a new pricing structure soon. Instead of a one-price-fits-all approach by breed, our new pricing will better reflect the specific work each pet requires. For example, those with shorter trims will pay less, while pets with longer, more intricate trims will be priced accordingly. We believe this approach will offer a fairer and more tailored option for our clients.

**What We Want You to Know**

We value every one of our clients and work hard to deliver the best grooming experience for your pets. We’re doing our best to manage this new challenge and keep our services affordable. It’s frustrating to have to raise prices due to a tax that doesn’t actually improve our services, but we appreciate your understanding and loyalty more than ever.
