1 on 1 Sessions

A 1 on 1 session will take at least 1 hour and a maximum of 2 hours, this all depends on how much the dog is able to retain, over teaching is not going to help whereas focusing on few key areas will be more beneficial. Please be aware it’s as much about teaching you, the owner as it is your dog, so the length of time the session lasts also depends on how much information you can r

etain too. When booking a 1 on 1 session, we will decide upon a place to meet that is safe for your dog and all concerned. You will need to fill out a comprehensive form about your dog, this information will help me formulate a plan to help you. A 1 on 1 session within a 20-mile radius of Penrith is £60.00

Online Session

A zoom session works well as a basis to start your behavioural improvement journey with your dog. I am able to learn a lot from the comprehensive form you will have filled out and by just talking to you about your dog. You will then be given some tasks to complete to start you on your journey. It’s strongly recommended that a physical 1 to 1 is booked as a follow up to ensure we are making an improvement. Once a zoom call has been booked you will receive a zoom link and password for the date and time we have agreed upon. A 1-hour zoom session is £40.00 and is beneficial if you do not live in the Penrith area and forms a great basis for continued behavioural training.

📣⚠️ Public Service Announcement: Did you know antifreeze is toxic to dogs? Please SHARE to help raise awareness!

As the temperatures drop, dogs are more at risk of coming into contact with antifreeze in de-icing products which is extremely dangerous to dogs and can be fatal, even in small amounts.

The ethylene glycol it contains has a sweet taste which can be particularly enticing to pets. Symptoms of poisoning may not appear immediately, but early signs to watch for include:

• Vomiting
• Lethargy and weakness
• Unsteady or drunken-like behaviour
• Increased thirst and urination
• Rapid breathing
• Seizures or muscle twitching

If you suspect your dog has ingested antifreeze, contact your vet immediately.

Look at these two beautiful boys. In the first photo, Murphy (L) and Reggie (R). Reggie has had a really rough time, medically, in his little life so far, suffering from juvenile cellulitis and meningitis which is very painful. This has left him sensitive to being touched and he will snap. He smashed his session but we have to realise that it will take time to counter condition his response, however, I saw nothing but positive responses. Well done Reggie (and Murphy) 👏🐾🥰🐾

Once again I’ve been rubbish at updating social media with what we’ve been up to, so here’s a quick catch up. There’s been two Kobis in the mix, both spelt differently, and revisits to Poppy, Zues and Charlie, all doing really well and I even got a ‘Glasgow Kiss’ from Zues yesterday, resulting in a black eye!! The hazards of my job 😂😂good thing he’s super bloody lovable!!! 🐾🥰🐾🥰🐾🥰

This handsome bundle of Staffy X energy is Zues. He’s been attacked a couple of times and is now dog reactive. He is entire 🎱🎱 so we talked about how this affects other dogs behaviour, a castrated male can feel threatened by an entire male, so inevitably we talked about the pros and cons of castration. Castration is a divisive topic and is an individual choice but I can help an owner to decide. We went on a walk and worked on his reactivity and Zues did great. In addition we worked on his loose lead walking as any pulling (and he’s a strong boy!) will cause frustration and raise arousal levels. And importantly, his owner is pregnant and we need to lower risk of incident and injury. Well done Zues. 🐾💙🐾

I got to see gorgeous teenager Luca earlier this week. He has become reactive to other dogs in the street. We took him to Dalston as we could guarantee seeing other dogs but be able to keep our distance. Luca was a little apprehensive as he was in a new environment, but soon adapted and we got to work. It’s important that the place we choose to train allows for the dog to be at a distance they can tolerate without overwhelming them, that would be called flooding and we need to avoid that. Well done Luca. 🐾💙🐾

This handsome young fella is 8 month old Kobi, who likes to shout A LOT at humans and dogs out on the street. He smashed his session with regards to adults, children, push chairs, mobility scooters and other every day events. Next session will be his reactivity to other dogs. Well done Kobi. 🐾💙🐾

This gorgeous boy is 6 month old Barney. Barney has recently started displaying separation anxiety, with no known cause. We talked about fear periods, which is when a dog may be more susceptible to becoming afraid of an event. There are 3 periods (some even say 4), and he is right at the beginning of the third fear period (6-14 months). Although we don’t know what cause this change, we talked about all the variables. There are many environmental variables that we can change, no single one will be the solution but all will help. Most importantly we changed the predictable triggers that mean we are leaving and we introduced enrichment to change his emotional response to being left alone. Well done gorgeous boy 🐾💙🐾

I got to see handsome boy Bob yesterday. It’s been less than two weeks since I first met Bob and his owners, and my word, the work they have put in is clear to see 👏👏 We did some work on this loose lead walking as this helps promote calm behaviour, look at that nice loose lead. And we were proofing his learning, which is putting him in different situations to ensure that the new behaviour is transferable to different contexts. Smashing it Bob 🐾💙🐾

Better late than never!! I got to see handsome boys Murphie (R) and Dennis (L) last week. Murphie is frightened of other dogs he sees out and about and vocalises this, and when Dennis is with him they start preempting each other. We started working on Murphie first, counter conditioning this behaviour and he did really well, we even said hello to another suitable dog so he can see he doesn’t need to be scared. Then we went back and got Dennis and they were great together without Murphie starting the barking. We also worked on their lead walking, if they’re not pulling on the lead this will reduce arousal levels. Well done boys. 🐾💙💙🐾

Yesterday was a black dog day. First up was gorgeous young lab Bob. Bob is 2 years old and is entire 🎱 🎱, he has recently become reactive to other entire males. We first discussed the pros and cons of neutering or chemical castration. Then we went for a great walk and talked about his body language and management around other dogs and he smashed his session. Next up was my old pal Oscar who himself is now a teenager and is pushing his boundaries when it comes to recall. To me, recall is a trust building exercise, ‘yes I want you to come back to me, but it doesn’t mean fun is over, the fun is just beginning’. Interestingly, Oscar is chemically castrated and his owner is definitely seeing the benefits. Well done Oscar and Bob 🐾💙💙🐾

This gorgeous young fella is Archie and the second photo is his ‘pal’ Bubbles. I say pals, Archie is terrorising Bubbles!! So we taught Archie to come away when we asked and rewarded Bubbles for tolerating Archie’s boisterous puppy behaviour. Being so young we need to keep his brain busy as too much physical exercising can have negative effects. There is also a possibility there are some gastrointestinal issues, so a check up is being organised. It is also important to appreciate that Archie will be teething right now, so finding outlets for this was addressed. Well done young Archie. 🐾💙❤️🐾

This gorgeous English Bulldog is 1yr old Dexter with his pal Duke. Dexter is guarding his home, as a guardian breed this is innate, but when Duke also gets involved the arousal level ramps up. We started teaching Dexter to go to his safe space when visitors arrive and it means good stuff happens. We also taught Duke not to bark when guests arrive. The two of them smashed it super quickly. We also then talked about how visitors should behave around Dexter and in time he will be able to generalise that visitors mean good stuff!! Well done boys. 🐾💙💙🐾

Where’s Wally? There he is! Yep, this is gorgeous 3 year old rescue boy Wally. He’s recently found his forever home, but he’s struggling with all things involved with living in a regular home. His owner is doing a great job already but he is very worried about the outside world, so we helped him feel better about it, we had to be careful to make sure that we take it in his own pace otherwise we risk him perceiving training as aversive. He’s only been in his new home for 4 weeks so early days for this gorgeous boy. Well done Wally. 🐾💙🐾

I got to see handsome Teddy for the second time this week. Teddy was rescued from the Chinese meat market!! So he’s had a tough life so far, he arrived with bite marks all over him, presumably from other dogs he was forced to share a small space with. Amazingly he is pretty good with humans but not other dogs. The second picture made me laugh though, hates dogs but is fine with cats!!! Although he is very reactive we did make progress walking up and down his street where he reacts to dogs who live there. We’ll get there Teddy, you’re safe now. 🐾💙🐾
