🐾 It is Animal Pain Awareness Month. 💖

It’s not always easy to know when our furry best friends are in pain. But it’s important for us as owners to watch out for the signs and do what we can to ensure our pets live without pain or discomfort.

This month serves to encourage pet parents across the world to learn more about their pet’s health and well being when it comes to pain management. Whether it’s acute or chronic pain.

Behavioural change is the most common sign of a pet in pain. So be sure to keep an eye on anything that’s out of the ordinary and schedule an appointment with your vet if you notice something’s not quite right.

Please share any advice you may have of your experience with your pet in pain. It may well help others reading this!

🫢 Unleashing some truth talk today! 🫢

All too often I see dogs coming into the salon that clearly haven’t been bathed, brushed or groomed in a long, long time.

Their coat is often in terrible condition - dirty, smelly, and awfully matted. 😔

And this puts me as a groomer, in a very difficult position.

I want my customers to be 100% happy with the grooms I offer. But due to the state of the dog’s coat, sometimes it means I need to cut away the fur to ensure the welfare of the dog.

This is good for the dog as it means they’ll be happier, healthier and more comfortable. But my human customers aren’t always pleased with the way their dog looks.

The sad thing is, this can be entirely avoided if everyone took the time to brush their dog frequently and gave them a wash every few weeks. And took their dog to a groomer regularly to ensure their coat doesn’t spiral out of control. 💖

If you have a long coated breed, regular grooms are part of the care you need to give your much loved pooch.💯

🐾 Today is the start of Responsible Dog Ownership Month! 🐾

Our dogs are a huge part of our family. They make us laugh, they offer us companionship, they're our best adventuring sidekick in the great outdoors.

We owe it to them to understand what they need from us to stay happy and healthy.

So to kick this month off the right way, here are a few things to bear in mind to practice your own responsible dog ownership.

💖 Exercise - Ensure your dog gets the right exercise for their energy levels. Whether that's a couple of 60 minute walks a day, regular playtime with you, or fast paced agility training.

💖 Health - Regular veterinary check-ups and the right nutrition are the key to a healthy pooch.

💖 Training - It's up to us to ensure our dogs understand how we want them to behave. Regular training sessions should be a big part of your dog's routine.

💖 Safety - Your dog's safety is a top priority. Ensure your garden is secure, walking equipment is in good working order, and they have constant access to shelter and fresh drinking water.

We can all be better humans for our dogs, and we hope these quick tips help you have the happiest and healthiest relationship possible with your furry best friend.
