Since 2019, StreetVet have been providing free, accessible veterinary care to the pets of those experiencing homelessness.

StreetVet is changing the future for pets in need - who may otherwise have to go without the care they need and deserve. When you next visit us in practice, we invite you to make a small donation to StreetVet. Just press ‘Green’ at the till, or drop your spare change in our collection pot. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide vital veterinary care and services to the pets of people experiencing homelessness across the UK.

Like most fears, desensitisation and preparation is key to managing anxiety around fireworks. We are pleased to share that dogs Trust have developed a FREE online resource called Scary Sounds. It is estimated that more than 90% of dogs treated with Sounds Scary showed a significant improvement in noise-phobia after 8 weeks.

With firework season around the corner, now is the perfect time to take action - click the link below to learn more:

🍂⚠ Autumn Pet Toxins: Horse Chestnuts (Conkers) ⚠🍂

The toxic ingredient in conkers is also found in the leaves and bark of the tree, so keep an eye out to make sure your pet doesn't eat these either. Conkers are also a choking hazard, and can potentially cause bowel obstructions if swallowed whole, which may require emergency surgery.

Signs to look for in your pet include vomiting and diarrhoea, excessive drooling, excessive thirst or reduced appetite. In severe cases, ingestion can cause muscle tremors or seizures.
