Today we waved farewell to our lovely Pastrengo who is off to pastures new (all 10 acres of it!) with his new owner, Karen.
Pastrengo has been a joy to own since we brought him over from Italy in April 2022. We’ll miss his cheeky character at the farm, but we know he’s in good hands with Karen and her other horses.
It really was love at first sight for these two and we can’t wait to see how they develop together! 😍

Let’s all just take a moment to appreciate 3 year old (soon to be 4) Patroclo… 😍
At home we have a square training pen where we’ve been doing all of his groundwork and a small bit of ridden work. We wanted to get Patroclo out to a full size arena to give him a chance to really move forward in trot, and to get him back out in the trailer. The trot was so good we also had a little canter too!
This boy continues to wow us 🥰
The boys have experienced snow not once, but twice during their first winter in the UK ❄️ ⛄️ Here’s a little video of Patroclo, Pastrengo and Parker having a leg stretch in the the crew yard while we wait for the training pen to defrost 🥶
Another Patroclo update... he went on a hack with Rob Leese Horses on board and Pastrengo showing him the ropes! 🐴 🐴 🇮🇹
Thankfully we decided to get him out yesterday before the heavens opened ☔️ 🌧️, but it was still rather windy 💨.
Not much to report (which is always good news with a 3 year old) other than he was a very good boy! Not fazed by the traffic, bridge or noisy wind.
Don’t forget these lovely boys (not Rob and Carl) are for sale and looking for their forever homes 🏠. If you’d like more information about them please email [email protected] 📧
Patroclo is getting the hang of this very quickly🐴
Lots of upwards and downwards transitions, and plenty of trotting. Can you believe a three year old is this well behaved?! 😲
⭐️ Pastrengo’s first ever hack ⭐️
Considering he’s the youngest of the bunch, he certainly behaved very maturely on this hack. What a good boy 👏🏻
Big thank you to Rob Leese Horses for riding him out and all your help.

How long will we have to be out here in this stuff?
I can't roll in it and can barely stand up in it!
Allora !
I'm Italian! What the hell is this stuff? Can't eat it and it's all over the place.
Mind you, I think Pastrengo prefers his stable rug if the truth be known.
Pastrengo and Parker are a bit more evenly matched.
3 yr old Patroclo keeps warm on a frosty morning by 'mixing it' with 18 yr old Minty.
Today is a really bittersweet day. We brought the 4 horses over here in April with the intention of introducing the breed to the UK 'scene' as best we could. Well, we have had some success as Positano has today gone to a new home with a seriously committed owner and will live on a yard with around 30 other horses and schooling facilities that we can only aspire to. (Check out Naturally Light Equitation in Northants). He is going to be trained for liberty work, dressage and even connect with his ancestral War Horse roots by performing swordfights on horseback!
That's the sweet bit! - The bitter bit is that he has been my personal favourite to date as he has been 'top of the class' in his groundwork training. I will miss him as I already regard him as 'the best horse that I have never had'
Oh well, we are doing what we set out to do and it does give more time to spend with:
Patroclo - very clever and athletic with an ego bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pastrengo - highly competent. Happy under carriage or carrying a passenger. A real strong silent type - when he's not screaming in my ear for his mates!
Parker - Fiona's favourite. An elegant animal with a long easy pace and power to match.
Brotherly love between Parker & Positano 😍

Pastrango’s first ride
Well, today Pastrengo had his first ride, and we’re thrilled to say there’s nothing really to report, other than he was hoof perfect from start to finish!
Every time we do something new with these Murgese horses they just take it in their stride.

About an hour after their arrival on 21st April they had pretty much all settled in and were no showing any signs of distress or 'wear and tear' from the journey. We cannot speak highly enough of the customs agents and haulage firm from Italy
We are playing 'catchup' with our Murgese story but we will get there! The 'boys' arrived safely at Summerfield Farm after a 4 day road journey from South Italy via Rome, Milan, Calais and Dover.
