A happy story to end the week and for a feel Good Friday 🙌🏻🎉

We just wanted to take a moment to share an incredible story that has made our day and to highlight the power of microchips 📣

This beautiful boy is Mart, he was brought into us today by a kind member of the public who had noticed him hanging around their property for a few weeks. After knocking on a few neighbours doors no one recognised him.

They decided to bring him to us as their own cat was upset by his presence and wanted to see if he had an owner nearby.

When arriving at the surgery we took him in and scanned for a microchip, thankfully he had one, where we then discovered that not only was he shown as missing but his owner lived all the way in London!

Mart had somehow ventured approximately 50 miles away from home!

His owner was over the moon to hear he was safe and drove straight up to us to come be reunited. Marts owner had been searching high and low for him for 7 weeks, putting up posters, checking social media and asking around the neighbourhood.

We are SO overjoyed that after 7 weeks he is back where he belongs, reunited with his owner and his fellow feline friend at home who missed him dearly 🐱♥️

The team are overjoyed for be ending their Friday on such a positive note and so incredibly happy we were able to help reunite them. A special thank you also to the finder of Mart who took initiative in bringing him to us to solve this mystery.

💬This story highlights the need for microchipping and in June 2024 it will be mandatory for all cats to be microchipped 📣

💬It is also important to update your pets microchip details when moving house or changing telephone numbers to ensure if they go missing, you can be contacted easily to be reunited as quickly as possible.

Meet our superstar of the month Obie! ⭐️⭐️

Obie comes to see us regularly for blood tests. As he has this done so frequently we try to make the experience as quick and stress free for him as possible. 🐶

We like to use LickiMats to provide a tasty treat to minimise the restraint we need to use to keep patients calm and happy during the procedure. 🙌🏻⭐️

We love to use Innovative Pet Products ⭐️

Hot weather warning☀️

We will be experiencing more hot temperatures this week! Please take care when out and about in the warmer temperatures as heatstroke is a common summer condition we see 🩺

- Walk your dog in the morning or evening when it’s much cooler

- Do not leave your animal outside unsupervised on a hot day

- Always have cool water available

- Avoid any strenuous exercise

- Always test the ground before taking your dog out and remember, it is absolutely fine for your dog to miss a walk.

Just a little reminder for the hot weather ahead…. Keep your fur babies safe 💦☀️

Just a little reminder for the hot weather ahead…. Keep your fur babies safe 💦☀️

We’re experiencing some warmer weather this week and lots of sun ☀️

Please take care when out and about in the warmer temperatures as heatstroke is a common summer condition we see 🩺

Make sure you offer your pets plenty of water throughout the day and keep them indoors during the hottest parts of the day. Early morning and evening walks are generally best as the temperature is the lowest 🍃☀️

Here are some of our staff pets keeping cool in the water!

Meet Chase, the 1 year old Male Golden Retriever who likes to eat stones!
He was seen by our amazing new Vet Justin who diagnosed him with a gastrointestinal blockage caused by these pesky stones which Chase had eaten several days earlier.

When large foreign objects get obstructed and block the digestive tract this can be extremely serious and life threatening if left untreated. Luckily his owners were quick to act bringing chase in to see us when he became unwell. Justin then promptly operated on Chase to remove the large stones from his stomach and small bowel. We are happy to say that Chase has now made a full recovery and will not be eating any more stones in the future! 🦮💖
