Our latest (and smallest!) patient at Kintyre Veterinary Services is Maverick, a 1 week old House Martin chick.

House Martins are a very special, red listed species in the UK and we are very lucky to have 4 nests here at KVS! Unfortunately Maverick was part of a nest abandonment and was the only survivor when he fell from his nest.
With a nasty bruise to his jaw and feeling too weak and cold to move, yesterday was a busy evening of intensive care and feeding.

I’m delighted to say that he is doing incredibly well today and is chirping away calling for more food as I type!! (Who knew I’d ever be so pleased to have flies on the farm)

Unfortunately, house martins are not able to be returned to their nests and, as he is injured, Maverick will be recovering with us before hopefully transferring him to a specialist rehab centre with other house martins next week 🤞🏻

I will keep you posted with his progress and if anyone would be willing to give a very sweet little bird a lift to Paisley/Beith area next week, please get in touch 💙

Sorry for the radio silence recently.... I'm delighted to say I have been kept very busy meeting and helping lots of your wonderful pets! 😍
So privileged to be an 'animal doctor' as my youngest says and be a part of keeping your animals of all shapes and sizes living their best, healthiest and happiest lives!

This is 2 of the KVS four legged gang, brother and sister, Tess & Ted certainly making the most of theirs ☀️

When a visit from your vet is just sooo stressful you curl up on the scales for a wee nap after all the cuddles and treats 🐾😂
