Hi there! Just thought I'd do an introduction post....yeah, another one. We're all changing and evolving, right?

I'm Rebecca, Becca, Becki, etc.
I'm from the Staffordshire area, in a little place called Cannock.
I have a wonderful husband called Dave, and an almost 6 year old (how?) Beautiful, funny autistic son called Reuben and a 18 month old gorgeous, strong-willed daughter called Dahlia.

I'm a bookworm, homebody who also enjoys shaking her ass at the occasional emo night in town.
I love going to my local pub, and drinking 2/3rds of a sour craft beer and filling my face with delicious food.

I'm a massive birth nerd, I'm sure that goes without saying, but if you'd have told that to my 14 year old self after watching the most (frankly) terrifying birth video in child development at school. I'd have laughed in your face. But thanks to hypnobirthing, I would now say that giving birth to my daughter was the most beautiful experience of my life, and I would relive it daily if I could.

SO, that's why I do this work, but more on that later.

Tips for birth partners: Number 1.
Invest your time into birth education. The best thing you could do is know how birth works, know the rights the birth person has, the options you have. Learn to advocate for your partner. A good hypnobirthing course will teach you all of this!

Update to add: I think this post may be a bit vague when it says "newly born baby". Let's be more specific in saying healthy, full-term babies, with healthy mother, should be kept skin to skin, the infant having no hat on, for at least the first hour after birth (and hopefully beyond). This improves breastfeeding outcomes and is optimal for thermoregulation of the newborn.

Hey there, it's me, walking my pet alpaca in my big ass field.
Not really, that would be the dream though.
I'm actually up with my nearly 1 year old, wondering where the time has gone and wishing I could do it all again. Her birth and first year has been nothing short of a dream.

Hey, have you forgotten about me? I've been away from this page for quite some time, cooking up, birthing and taking care of my own little bundle of deliciousness. She's been earth side for 10 months now, & I'm excited to get stuck in to work again. I've also changed the name of this page, formerly becca_the_badass_doula I didn't feel like this name really suited me, I fancied a change, something a little bit more simple. I hope you like it.

Informed consent never looks or sounds like something already in motion. Huge red flag. True informed consent takes hold of the concepts of a conversation. One that explains risks and benefits, leaves room for questions and time to consider, and then the decision is up to the client. With the choice of No being a full one.
