Our practice is taking part in the 2024 Antibiotic Amnesty.
Throughout November 2024 we are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal. Please drop off any unused medications to us at Cannock. You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you didn’t need or out-of-date medication. Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

🐾 Dear Clients, Please Read🐾

Unfortunately, today we do not have a Vet in the practice. We are currently trying to find cover, but we are not having any luck at the moment.

Due to this we are currently rearranging all appointments booked with the Vet today.

We have arranged emergency cover at First Vets in Aldridge and Streetly. If you have a genuine emergency please call the following numbers

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and will try and accommodate the appointments we are rearranging as best as we can.

🐾❤️Striving to improve the care of your pets!❤️🐾

Today we had the amazing Nicola Hughes FdSc RVN Dip ET with us to provide our nursing team with some continual professional development on Anaesthesia!

Anaesthesia is a vital part of our daily work, we must ensure we keep your pets both as safe as possible and pain free during their surgical procedures.

Nicola has a wealth of knowledge as part of the Nursing Team at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists, and she shared this with us today in great depth.

The team have come away with an improved confidence boost and new ideas to improve patient care.

Please note
If your pet is coming to stay with us for the day and having surgery we do our admits between 8 and 8.30.
This allows time to get the patients settled in before we start surgery.
Our reception team will give you an admit slot. This will be for a full admit with a vet or nurse and can take up to 20-30 minutes.
Please factor this into your morning routine in terms of work and taking children to school.
You will be required to read and sign a consent form which is a legal document.
The nurse will discuss the procedure with you including costs and your estimate, bloods, fluid therapy, medications, allergies and consent for resuscitation CPR should the case arise.

⭐️ EXCITING NEWS ⭐️
We now offer Laparoscopic Surgeries

Laparoscopy, commonly known as keyhole surgery, is the practice of operating
through ports in the body wall rather than directly through an incision.
Laparoscopic surgery is considered minimally invasive, and is common-place
for many procedures in people.
During keyhole surgery sterile carbon dioxide gas is used to inflate the abdomen,
lifting the body wall away from the organs. A camera is inserted through the
first port, allowing us to visualise the organs clearly, and instruments are used to
perform the surgery.

What’s the benefits?
✅ Smaller wound
✅ Clearer view of inturnal organs
✅ Less stimulation for the patient therefore leading to a smoother anaesthetic
✅ Less painful
✅ Faster recovery of 1-3 days

Our charity of the year is Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
To help raise money they have decided to do an event called Hike to Halloween
The aim is to walk 31 miles in October

Thank you so much to our friends over at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists our team had a wonderful afternoon training.

Last week one of our Specialists in Cardiology, Liz Bode, visited Melbourne Veterinary Centre Cannock to provide them with 1:1 echocardiography training. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting the team and providing this training to them, something which she loves to do. She is also Bennett-Williams Vets this week doing something similar.
