Little Luna at one of her puppy package sessions. She has mastered getting on an off the table, having clippers run over her body, having her feet and legs handled etc, this is her getting used to the dryer. She’s such a little star ⭐️
Fletchers family brought him to me because trying to bath him at home was apparently chaos, he doesn’t like being bathed and he is very easily overwhelmed. He is such a big dog it became an impossible job! He also had to go the vets regularly for claw clips. We took things very slow at first, he came for several appointments before we attempted to bath him or clip his claws. We can now do both easily and his family and I are so pleased we decided to film his entrance into the cabin.
It’s always a joy to have him in ❤️
A little play after Millie’s groom 😍
Millie now gets on and off the table even with the dryer on and is building great confidence with the grooming process ❤️
Lottie is a typical busy spaniel that doesn’t stand still for a second when she’s awake!
I don’t restrain dogs on my table and often get asked how I do it without restraints. This video is a good example. By giving her freedom to move around she doesn’t feel the need to resist, therefore she is calm on the table and actually stands still. She gets down for regular breaks to stretch her legs and that helps her to be able to stand still for what I need to do. ❤️
Mabel comes in for a monthly bath. Bulldogs need the skin between the folds dried thoroughly to ensure they are not left susceptible to infection. Mabel doesn’t like having this done. Rather than restrain her to get it done which takes away her choice and would leave her feeling upset I would rather ask her to consent to me doing it.
She can move away at any time, she doesn’t want me to do it which is clear from the paw lifts. However just giving her a bit of choice in the situation she chose in the end to allow me to do it for a treat. I love how cooperative dogs can be when they are given freedom to make a decision for themselves ❤️
Lotti is Squizzle's housemate. She has never been to the groomers before due to the lockdown and was, understandably very nervous about it at first. However, she was so trusting of me and we had lots of breaks and she too allowed me to do much more than I expected. She wasn't happy about the scissors being near her eyes so I left the hair on her face and her owner is going to work on getting her used to this at home before her next appointment.
She too was very happy to play chase the treats at the end of her groom. I fell totally in love with them both!
Squizzle has only had one experience of going to a groomer before and it wasn't a good one for him. His caring owners just wanted him to be comfortable with the process and we agreed that I would only do what I could within the boundaries that he could cope without being stressed, to make the process a more positive experience.
Well what an absolute sweetheart he is. He let me know when he was worried about something by turning his back to me. This is a very subtle signal to communicate and it is important that I listened to him in order to gain his trust that I wasn't going to hurt him.
I am delighted with the end result and how happy he is to chase and eat treats while he waited to be picked up.
What a delightful, handsome chap!
