This beautiful girl is one of our Seniors 👏 would you believe she is 15 years old 😲

She is always so happy to come in and see us and is on a very regular schedule helping to prevent tangles in her still super thick coat.

She always puts a big smile on our faces so we wanted to share her and give you all a smile too, give her some likes and comments too 👍

We always enjoy handstripping here .groomed and thought we would share but a few of the things we help our clients to consider when they decide to have a dog handstripped.

🐾Age (Young or elderly age will impact the groom e.g duration a dog can cope with being groomed)

🐾Health (Does the dog have any medical concerns that may impact the grooming process e.g Cushins)

🐾Tolerance (does the dog tolerate the handstrip process, sometimes pet dogs have sensitive areas and they are uncomfortable with this area being stripped)

Each dog is an individual and we treat each dog as such, amending and considering the dog on each visit to ensure we carry out a groom that is best for you and your pet.

Sometimes you have a senior dog and the groom reflects this, a comfortable groom that’s easy to maintain can be the way to go as your dog starts to show signs of ageing.

Have you ever thought about ways you can ask your groomer to amend your dog’s style as they grow older?

Here we have the body and legs the same length, not too short as we want to help him retain a little heat (as they grow older their coat can thin out and it can be a little harder for some)

We groomers have a routine… it helps us to complete a groom in good time while getting everything completed on the groom without forgetting ✂️

…Sometimes we change the routine to suit the dog… like here, he struggles to stand for too long he likes to sit so we work with him to get the groom complete, with sitting breaks were needed.

This beautiful boy found the salon a little scary when we first groomed him, and has become more comfortable on each visit.
This time he relaxed and laid down on the grooming table which surprised us in a very good way 👏🐾
Other wins on this visit … getting in the bath with just verbal encouragement and nail trimming less of a worry with treats as positive reinforcement 💪

We love seeing and helping dogs and owners to find the grooming process less of a worry, and we always celebrate the little wins as it can take time and be a slow process. One that is always worth while 😊

Now bear in mind he loves a mucky face and has got older during and his haircut changed over time too, however focus on his muzzle and the hair around his nose.

Today we wanted to celebrate her coming to see us while we were checking her in with the owners, normally she is happier to stay close to them the whole time… today she came and gave both of us a good sniff and said hello 👋 it was a small but great achievement 🐾❤️
