Drax, Frank, Sterling and Willow
Frank was such a good boy for his day train. Sterling and Willow joined for some extra top up training. The more work you put in, the better the results you’ll get and that’s clear when you see how far they’ve all come.
Daisy’s reactivity stemmed from a lack of handier confidence and little to no exposure. We’re giving her positive experiences with half day trains and building handler confidence with 1-2-1s. She’s already come so far and I’m excited to see how far she can go
A very wet 1-2-1 this morning. Hera has started to relax and enjoy her sessions a lot more. Dogs do need to be able to work through stress but equally, nothing is achieved if they are overwhelmed or shut down. I want clients and their dogs to enjoy our sessions, having a reactive dog is stressful enough we don’t need to pile it on.
Proofing our basic obedience in as many different ways as possible. The class regulars have worked through reactivity and are now continuing to challenge their dogs in different ways. Well done guys 👏
A lovely evening neutrality walk with the pointy eared ones Duke's Dog Walks
My old boy Maisha still has it. He’s nearly 14 but still loves training (food).
Chappie’s half day train consisted of some exposure, neutrality and a relaxing walk followed by a paddle in the stream
Pepper thoroughly enjoyed her half day train. We went to St. Fagans National History Museum to continue her exposure and build her confidence.
Skylar did amazing during her 1-2-1 today, no reactions and could chill around Poppy
Thanks to Duke's Dog Walks for the stooge work and lift as my car is in the garage 😫
Neutrality Class
Neutrality Class with a twist, this week we combined our usual neutrality drills with added environmental challenges. Everyone did so well, it shows that consistency makes all the difference. We’ve been working on motivation, engagement, obedience and creating new associations when it comes to people and dogs.
Monty is with me for a half day train, we’re working on neutrality and recall. There are some difficulties that come with owning a Labrador, people assume your dog is social and you want their off lead dogs running over to say hi, which can make training neutrality hard. So we’ve been brushing up on the basics to help Monty out.
Just two big puppies enjoying balanced play this morning. They match each others play styles well and I made sure that they had plenty of time to be calm around each other too.
Where’s my little puppy gone 🥺 #keelersk9s #dogtrainer #dogtraining #germanshepherd #germanshepherdpuppy #puppy #gsd #gsdpuppy #sablegsd
Brenin came for his first half day train last week and did amazing. Being a working border collie he has a very active mind and is constantly on the go. We worked on cooperative play, down stays, lead walking, recall and building engagement in different locations. He can be dog reactive so we worked around dogs at a distance he is comfortable with.
