So important

No dog should become injured or lose their life for entertainment.

Which is why today we are proud to stand alongside the RSPCA (England & Wales) and Blue Cross, in calling for a phased end to greyhound racing in the UK. Over the last four years, more than 2,000 greyhounds died and racing dogs sustained almost 18,000 injuries which is simply not acceptable.

We’ve worked closely with the greyhound industry for many years to try to improve welfare conditions for the dogs, but progress has not been made quickly enough, or on a big enough scale. We are fully committed to the welfare of all greyhounds affected by our call for a phased end to the sport. We will continue to work collaboratively with the industry and other stakeholders to ensure the welfare of dogs is not compromised while working towards this.

⚠️WEATHER WARNING: EXTREME HEAT⚠️

Arthur here with a PSA. The next 3 days are due to be extremely hot. Please do not take your fur babies out in this heat it’s just not worth the risk.

Tips on keeping your pooch cool:
❄️ Keep them indoors. Only allow your dog in the garden for toilet breaks.
❄️ Use cooling mats or wet towels for your dog to lie on.
❄️ Keep blinds/curtains closed to keep rooms cool.
❄️ Keep your pooch entertained with frozen kongs, puzzle games or indoor training games.
❄️ If you absolutely must walk your dog please do so before 8am or after 10pm. Test the tarmac before you walk, if you can’t comfortably keep the back of your hand on the floor for 10 seconds it’s too hot.

Over the weekend I attended an IMDT dog first aid course.
Hope I don't have to use these new skills, but very glad to have done it.
Would highly recommend this course to any dog owners!
