Five of our wonderful rescues arrived to meet their new families this week

Desperately seeking their new families 🙏🏻

This brother and sister Danone and Danett have been in our care for too long 😞 we have no idea why
They are both amazing Vizsla/lab cross breeds and would be the best family dogs

Playful and love their toys
Great with children
Love the company of all dogs
Kind natured
Neutered and spayed
Fully vaccinated and ready to travel
Around 18 months old

Danone the boy has the ‘wobbles’ but this doesn’t affect him at all from living an active, fun loving life

We are only asking to cover the transport fee to get them into a loving family of their own for this Christmas

Rocky is still waiting for his forever family 🙏🏻

Rocky is an amazing, smiley boy that was rescued from the streets.

Despite his rough start this 18 month old boy is very trusting and a typical velcro Vizsla.
His ideal home will be:

* Active home and family life
* Loves other dogs male and female
* Crate trained
* Great with children
* Can live with cats
* Walks nicely on a lead
* Happy in the car

Cinnamon Update 🧡

Cinnamon has been in our care for 3 months now and lots of our supporters have been asking for an update

She is doing really well considering the awful condition she was rescued in.

Weight gain has been slow and she is still on the steroids.
We have tried to withdraw them but she is in too much pain when we do 😞

Cinnamon will continue to receive all the love, treatment and care she needs

We are at maximum capacity for dogs in our care and struggling more than ever before like many rescues

This poor traumatised GSP boy has been dumped and found in this shocking condition

Despite this he is kind and loving but also terrified, exhausted and in a critical condition 😞

Now known as Nelson and we have arranged to get him to the vets for urgent treatment

This lovely boy is called Tacsi and has been waiting too long for his forever home and we have no idea why 😞

He came into our care with an old eye injury and vets decided it would be better to remove the eye.

Tacsi is around 5 years old and is such a good boy 😍

‼️ Urgent, please help‼️ 🆘

We can’t continue to rescue amazing dogs like these without your help 😞

Mounting vet bills, expensive medication, huge food expenses are taking their toll and our bank account is empty.

We have around 50 dogs in our care, some will travel to the UK but we also have many dogs that will stay in our care due to medical or behavioural needs.

Any help at all is SO gratefully received and will be such a massive boost to get our bills under control

Today in Budapest, one of our team members Judit visited a flea market and discovered two framed photos of a pair of beautiful sugar-faced Vizslas.

She couldn’t resist asking about them, and after hearing the price, she bought them. Leaving them behind just wouldn’t have felt right, she thought that they would look much better at home on the wall as a tribute to all Vizsla oldies.

Interestingly, the back of the frames revealed that they were taken, printed and framed by a company in Southampton, UK, along with some identifying details that date them between 1990 and 1995 (one clue being that the area code was listed as 0703, not 01703) - we have put an email into them too.

If we assume the Vizslas were about 10 years old in the photos, they would have been born between 1980 and 1985, placing them relatively early in UK Vizsla history. While we know Vizslas were in the UK as early as the 1950s and 60s, they were still somewhat uncommon in the 1980s.

How did these photos end up in Hungary?

Could they have belonged to a 1956 refugee who returned to Hungary after the changes in 1989 and has since passed away?

Or were they perhaps a memento sent back to the Hunga***n breeder?

If anyone has information about early Vizsla owners in Southampton, we would love to hear from you!

There isn’t anything negative we can say about Maya.
She came back into our care through no fault of her own.

Maya is such an amazing girl and we really want her in her forever home now.

- She is not dominant

Bob was living with a family with young children but they didn’t have the time needed for a puppy so handed him into our care.
He loved the young son and even slept in his bed

Bob is a big pup for his age but is full of fun and loves people, children and other dogs

We are looking for a breed experienced family that has the time and patience for continued training preferably with a resident dog or dogs.

Gábor/Gabriel is looking for his new home 🤎

18 month old German Wire Haired Pointer (GWP) Gabriel was rescued by the team in Hungary with a string around his neck that caused an awful wound 😞

His neck is now all healed and all he needs now is his forever family 🙏🏻

Despite his awful start to life he makes friends very quickly

🧡 Meet Rocky looking for his forever family

Rocky is an amazing, smiley boy that was rescued from the streets about six weeks ago. He came into foster with two nasty scars on his back we have no idea how he got these 😞

Despite his rough start this 18 month old boy is very trusting and a typical velcro Vizsla.

He loves the other dogs in foster and is very playful and kind.

Rocky is cat friendly

Help Please ‼️ 🐾

Yesterday we received a phone call and the following shocking image!

The rescuers managed to take her away from the ‘owners’ for two bars of chocolate!! 😞

This poor Dachshund is very injured and urgently needs veterinary help! She has a hole in her side possibly from an attack

We have nowhere to put her and no funds for the vet costs but how can we not help?

Sadly after 3 months Alfie is looking for his forever home as his adopters work circumstances have changed.

18 months old and neutered

Alfie can happily live with other dogs
Was living with lots of dogs in foster care
Currently living with cats but cats would need to be very dog savvy as would chase
Loves a lap and a duvet, cuddly boy
Can live with children
Good in the car and at the vets
Sleeps well
Partly crate trained ok with door open
Loves his toys
Barks when he sees dogs in the distance but happy to play
Not happy to be left (separation anxiety) but this could be worked on with time and patience

Our Story

Vizslamentés UK Rescue Trust (registered charity number 1162503) is a UK based charity which supports the only specialist HPR breed rescue in Hungary – our sister organisation Vizslamentés Magyarorszag. We provide funding, support and carefully selected adoptive homes for vizslas and other pointers rescued and rehabilitated in Hungary.
