๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ‡ Let's ease cat firework anxiety with these five top tips ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ‡

Create a Cosy Hideaway: Set up a snug space for your cat to retreat to during the fireworks. A quiet corner with their favourite blanket or a covered cat bed can provide comfort and security

Food & Water Access: Make sure your cat has access to food and water throughout the night. If you know fireworks are coming, consider feeding them a little earlier to reduce stress during mealtime

Secure Your Home: Close all windows and doors to prevent your frightened kitty from darting outside. Use curtains or blinds to block out flashes of light from the fireworks

Play Soothing Sounds: Use soft music or turn on the TV to help mask the sound of fireworks. Cats often find comfort in familiar noises, which can help ease their anxiety

Provide Hiding Spots: Cats love to hide! Leave boxes or tunnels around for your cat to explore and retreat to when they feel scared. These spaces can make them feel safer

๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ†Let's ease dog firework anxiety with these five top tips ๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ†

Toilet Time: Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before the fireworks start and keep them indoors during the displays

Food & Water Access: For dogs that struggle to eat when stressed, ensure they have access to food and water all night. If you know when the worst nights for fireworks will be, feed your dog late afternoon or early evening before the noise begins

Secure Your Home: Make sure your home is secure by closing
all doors and windows, as scared pets can sometimes bolt. Close curtains and blinds to minimise flashes

Create Background Noise: Play moderately loud rhythmic music with a good beat to help mask the sound of fireworks. Alternatively, familiar sounds like the TV may also comfort your dog

Prevent Trapping: Ensure your dog cannot get trapped, as this may worsen their phobias. Avoid shutting them in tight spaces

๐ŸŽƒ Halloween Alert! ๐ŸŽƒ
Keep your furry friends safe this spooky season.
Beware of these Halloween treats that are poisonous to dogs:
chocolate, sweets, caramel apples, macadamia nuts, chocolate raisins, and sweet wrappers.
Even small amounts can be dangerous, so make sure to keep these treats out of reach.
If your dog has eaten any of these, take your pet straight to the vet.
Opt for pet-friendly snacks instead and ensure your pup has a howling good time!
Stay vigilant and enjoy a fun, safe Halloween with your pets!

๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ Remember, not all pets enjoy dressing up - and that's okay. ๐ŸŽƒ
Costumes can be fun and adorable, but it's important to keep your pets safe. Here are some dos and donโ€™ts:
๐ŸŽƒ DO:
Ensure the costume fits well, allowing your pet to move freely
Pick costumes made from soft, breathable materials
Avoid small, dangling parts
Make sure the costume doesn't obstruct vision or hearing
Let your pet try it on before Halloween
Always keep an eye on your pet in costume
๐ŸŽƒ DONโ€™T:
Don't use anything that covers your pet's face
Avoid tight costumes or those that can get tangled
Be aware of materials that might cause irritation
Don't leave the costume on for long, especially if your pet is uncomfortable

Remember, your pet's safety and comfort come first! If they show signs of distress, opt for a festive bandana or collar instead.

Cats are experts at hiding pain, so the symptoms of osteoarthritis can be harder to spot or only noticeable once the arthritis and pain levels are more severe.
๐Ÿพ Reluctance or inability in jump
๐Ÿพ Reduced grooming or matted fur
๐Ÿพ Overgrooming can also be a sign
๐Ÿพ Irritability, shyness or changes in behaviour
๐Ÿพ Sleeping more than normal
๐Ÿพ Stiffness or developing a limp
๐Ÿพ Loss of toilet training
๐Ÿพ Overgrown nails
With the right treatment, cats with osteoarthritis can still enjoy a comfortable and active life!

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚ As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, it's the perfect time to enjoy autumn walks with your furry friend. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿพ

Here are some tips to ensure your pet stays safe and happy during your autumn adventures:
๐Ÿพ Stay Warm: Ensure your pet is comfortable and warm with appropriate clothing, especially if they have short fur
๐Ÿพ Watch Out for Hazards: Be mindful of fallen leaves, which can hide potential dangers like sharp objects or holes
๐Ÿพ Stay on Leash: With wildlife more active, keep your pet on a leash to prevent unexpected chases
๐Ÿพ Hydrate: Bring water for your pet, as they can still get thirsty even in cooler weather
๐Ÿพ Check for Ticks: Autumn is tick season. Check your pet for ticks after each walk.

Enjoy the beautiful season safely with your pet!

As our beloved pets age, regular check-ups become even more crucial.
One important aspect of senior pet care is keeping an eye out for any new lumps or bumps.
Why It's Important: Lumps can sometimes indicate benign conditions, but they can also be a sign of something more serious. Regular grooming provides the perfect opportunity to gently check for any new or changing lumps that might need further attention.
Gentle Grooming: As you brush or pet your furry friend, take a moment to feel for any unusual lumps or bumps.
Be Observant: Look for changes in size, shape, or texture of any lumps.
Act Promptly: If you find something that seems new or different, schedule a vet visit for a thorough check-up.
Regular grooming not only keeps your pet looking and feeling great but also helps in early detection of potential issues.
Stay proactive and keep your senior petโ€™s health on track!

Have you noticed changes in your senior petโ€™s eating or drinking habits?
It might be more than just getting oldโ€”it could be dental disease or another underlying issue. Senior pets usually need less food due to decreased
activity, so itโ€™s essential to monitor their weight closely.
Weight loss isn't a normal part of aging and can be a sign of disease. Keep an eye out for these changes and ensure your furry friend gets regular dental
check-ups.

๐Ÿพ๐ŸพSlowing down on walks? ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ
It's easy to assume they're just getting old, butโ€ฆoften, it's a sign of something more, like arthritis or lameness. Senior dogs might need slower, sniffy walks to stay comfortable and happy.
They could also benefit from eating a bit less and having a padded bed to ease joint pain.
Donโ€™t forget regular nail trims since they're not walking as much. If you notice these mobility changes, itโ€™s time for a vet check-up.

Last week we had a visit from Coco, Goldie, Willow, Ruby, Maple, Teddy, Milo, Tia and Penny ๐Ÿฅฐ What a lot of loveliness they were - well done mum Nala on getting them to this point - that's a lot of mouths to feed!

All 7 girls and 2 boys were good as gold while vet Laura did their examinations and first vaccinations - not one squeak . Laura and Vet nurse student Ally worked as team to make sure everyone was happy and cuddled (it's a tough job ๐Ÿคฃ) Ally also weighed them all and checked their microchips worked.

Their best behaviour all disappeared when it came to taking a photo though so enjoy the blur of cuteness!
