Busy busy busy! There’s a strange yellow thing in the sky, and everyone is dreaming of long summer days on the beach.

As many of you will have seen, a number of local kennels have closed their doors in the last year. This means spaces are even harder to find for everyone.

As it stands, we have extremely limited availability between now and September 2024 (crazy, isn’t it?!).

If you want to make an enquiry, please include the exact dates you need (drop off and collection), and the breed of your dog (we have a variety of kennels, and this will help us check to see if we have the right space to get you in).

Just as we thought we’d successfully weathered the storm…

We currently have no phone line (EE signal seems to be out), and limited internet.

If you’re wondering why we haven’t got back to you, or replied to your emails, it’s because we physically can’t at the moment.

We’re hoping service will return soon, but please bear with us.

How is it already 2024?

Just a quick note to say that we are filling up quite quickly this year (thank you organised people!).

February half term is fully booked

We have some summer dates already fully booked - please don’t assume you’ll be able to just call and get a space 🤐 Speak with us first to confirm availability if you can.

Finally, we’d like to thank all of you for your support over the last (almost) three years since we took over at Hesket. We love meeting all of your furry friends, and building relationships with them throughout their stay.

Availability update:

October is FULL

November we have some weekday availability

December we have a small amount of availability, however Christmas is fully booked (21st onwards).

If you already have your holiday booked for 2024, now is the time to get in touch and book your kennels. We have some summer weeks almost sold out already.

The end of summer (did we have a summer?) is rapidly closing in, so we thought we’d do an availability update.

We have no availability for new customers until November. Please note that we have limited capacity for new dogs in the Hesket family - we require initial assessments and trial days for all potential customers to make sure they are a good fit for our routine.

If you and your hound or gundog are looking for a reliable, family-run kennel to keep your four-legged friend safe and happy when they can’t be at home, get in touch to sort out an initial visit.

October half-term is FULLY BOOKED.

Christmas is FULL.

Bookings for next summer are coming in quickly.

Wow, the weekend has landed with full force!

A perfect storm of a sunny bank holiday (miracles do happen!), the start of half-term, and the excitement of Carlisle United heading to Wembley has led to an unprecedented amount of calls and messages over the last few days.

We’ve done everything we can to get people in, but we do have limits! In order to make sure everyone gets the right amount of attention, play time in the field, and one on one enrichment sessions, we do have to say no sometimes.

This is going to be the case all summer. Our availability is currently limited to 2/3 days for most weeks, and the majority of weekends are FULLY BOOKED until mid-September.

As always, if you are contacting us to enquire about booking, please let us know:
* the dates you want to drop off and collect
* whether you want a space for cats or dogs
* for dogs, please let us know the breed/mix as this helps us make sure we have the right space available

In the meantime, enjoy the long weekend!

Good evening everyone!

We don’t post very often (we’re too busy playing with the dogs and making sure everyone is enjoying their stay as much as possible!) but it’s time for a very important announcement.

There is a huge shortage of kennel space available across the area - some of you will have experienced great difficulty in securing a space for your precious pets so that you can relax and enjoy your own holidays.

We have extremely limited space available between now and mid-September (seems ages away, doesn’t it?). We have NOTHING available in May, or the first weekend in June. If you are planning a trip away and you haven’t yet booked your kennels - check first! Gone are the days of being able to ring up and book 2 weeks in August at short notice.

Get in touch via WhatsApp, email, or Messenger for the easiest response (we don’t always answer the phone when we’re out exercising our clients - we like to concentrate on them!)

When you contact us to enquire, please make sure to let us know the type of dog you are hoping to board - some of our kennels are better suited to certain types of dog, and we are very careful to manage our spaces to keep everyone as relaxed as possible.

tl;dr : check availability before you book your holiday. Don’t be left holding the puppy!

Didn’t Easter just fly by?

We are now completely full for half term (26th May - 4th June), and the August bank holiday weekend.

We have very limited space left for most other dates between now and September, so if you’re thinking of going away, make sure there’s a vacancy for your pets!

We’re filling up fast!

Easter fortnight is pretty much full now, and we’re seeing a rush on bookings all the way through to September! Thank you everyone for being organised and getting your dogs booked in so early.

If you’re looking for space, please contact us asap - if you call, please leave a message so that we can check spaces and get back to you. We’re usually out and about with the dogs, and will pick up phone messages when we have a break (no-one likes to have their playtime interrupted by a phone call!). Alternatively, drop us a line via messenger on here, or email/WhatsApp.

Recent visitors will have noticed a bit of disruption on the site, but this is for a good cause!

We have renewed the perimeter fencing and upgraded it to 6’6” stock-style fencing with a mesh specifically designed for dog (and wild boar…) enclosure and have started some clearance so you’ll see various changes as we start rearranging things.

The lads at T. A. Hodgson Ltd have done an excellent job making sure that we could keep running while the works took place.

The field looks a little worn but as spring rolls round, we should be back to normal in no time.

We have very limited spaces left for the rest of 2022 - almost nothing available for weekends, and a small amount during the week.

We have no spaces at all between 16th December and 2nd January.

Well, we can hardly believe this has happened so quickly- but we’re full for Christmas and New Year!

Bookings are coming in already for next year, with February half term almost fully booked as well.

I know we keep saying it, but as soon as you know the dates you need, get in touch to secure your space - once we’re full, we’re full.

Just a reminder to everyone:

Kennels are still incredibly busy, as over a third have closed nationally. Combined with many people getting dogs in the last couple of years, there isn’t enough space to go around.

Leaving a message on our answerphone does not guarantee your booking. If we have space, we will call you back to take further details. If you don’t hear back from us, please do not assume we have managed to squeeze you in.

Dare we say it..?

But the nights are closing in, the heating has gone on already, and we’re looking forward to the most wonderful time of the year!

Our opening hours for drop offs and collections at Christmas this year are as follows:

Christmas Eve: open 9-12
Christmas Day: CLOSED
Boxing Day: CLOSED

New Years Eve: 9-12, 1-3 (we want to make sure everyone is well-exercised, fed, and happily settled in before those early fireworks start!).

We are, of course, here to look after your lovely pets - even if we’re closed to humans. Special treats, roast turkey, and Santa snacks are already in hand.

The summer is flying by, and the bookings are coming in thick and fast!

We now have nothing available until October, and half term is full.

If you’re calling, emailing, or messaging us to make a booking it would be really helpful if you could include the following information:

* Your full name and contact number
* Who you would like to book in (whether you are looking for cat or dog boarding - and for dogs please let us know the breed/size so we can check for suitable kennels)
* The dates you are looking for - these should be the date you plan to drop off and collect

We’ll get back to you as soon as we can, but please remember that we are at the height of the holiday season, and we’re very busy making sure all of our guests are happy and enjoying their stay.
