✨NATIONAL PET MONTH✨
This month we are sharing our staff pet stories.
Next up we have our Vet Suzanne’s pets;

Suzanne's Pets:

Lou our very cute, small in size but huge personality, top dog Jack Russell.
Border Collies - Fly, Meg (old girls), Jim, Floss and Dan (18m old). My aim is to train the 3 youngsters to be great sheepdogs! ...watch this space. They love running and playing and Jim also has a very long tongue!

Frank and Debbie are our chickens - their favourite past time is, when I walk the dogs, for Frank to protect Debbie (crowing, flapping his wings and being 'the man') whilst she lays an egg in the dog kennels. Frank also enjoys trying to attack my mother-in-law and daughter!

Last and most certainly not least is my favourite pet lamb of 2024 'Tiny Tim'. Very like Lou - he's small in stature but has a great personality. When he was born he was too small to reach his mums udder. So for the first few days I'd turn the ewe over so he could have colostrum and he's been bottle fed ever since. He's now not so small and knows his name is Tiny Tim when I call him!!

✨NATIONAL PET MONTH✨
This month we are sharing our staff pet stories.
Up next we have our Receptionist Emma’s pets;

Let's start with the one that found us , our cat domino adopted us around 10 years ago when she turned up at our farm as a rather ferral but inquisitive cat , I would say she is now the princess of the house , demanding food , sleeping on our bed or basking in the sun . My husband wasn't a cat lover but now I would question that he possibly loves the cat more than me!!!!
Next up is our sons working sheep dog "Queenie" whom we bought laterly last year , we look forward to seeing them both progress going forward "One boy and his dog "
Digby or Daschund was a lock down puppy that we re-homed after his first home didn't work out , I didn't tell any of the family we were getting a puppy , but to soften the blow I said we were going to our friends for a drink, a couple of ciders later I announced to my husband that there was something in the shed he needed to look at , safe to say went home that evening with Digby and we couldn't of got a nicer little dog .
Next up is our little boy frankies pony Roy , we have had roy just over a year now , Roy and Frankies confidence and bond just grew and grew last summer , I had tears in my eyes as I watched them go off round the gallop by themselves, we are now eagerly awaiting some better weather to get back riding again , roll on Summer ☀️

Some of you may have met my GSP, Alda before. She is the best companion [and receptionist assistant] with a HUGE personality. Some people we come across on dog walks mistake her for a deer because of the way she leaps, and the white markings on her bum.

Our family dog, a cocker spaniel called Ben, is as loyal as they come, and will always greet you with something in his mouth. My parents surprised me with him the day after I came home from hospital 6 years ago following a big surgery. He loved nothing more than going to work with my dad, sitting up front and centre in his van. Nowadays he will go to work with my mum, they love walking along Mawbray sand dunes together.

Next up we have our Vet Jo’s pet;

My name is Tipple Griffin. Auntie Pip says I’m “perfectly imperfect” but I don’t let that bother me one bit. I love everyone I meet. I am equally happy exploring Cumbrian lakes and fells and mixing with the London canine crowd. I am a little person with the heart of a lion - what I lack in size I more than make up for in enthusiasm!

We have accumulated Laddie, Callie, Caoimhe & Vinnie over the years. Callie went into heart failure at four years old and we are lucky to still have her now at nearly eight! Vinnie enjoys visiting all the neighbours and has even been found sleeping in their beds. Laddie is getting a bit older now but still enjoys big walks with Caoimhe who keeps him on his toes! 🩵

Next up we have our student nurse Caitlin’s pet’s;

Jojo has been my pony for 8 years. His excitement for life has meant I’ve ended up on the floor more often than not over the years but he makes each day exciting and I couldn’t ask for a better horse. Being a springer spaniel, Ernie is the best walking companion and could easily keep going all day without tiring! Daisy is the friendliest dog I have ever met, she absolutely loves being with people and would happily spend her entire day following me from room to room!

This month we are sharing our staff pet stories.
Next up is our nurse Megan’s pet’s;
We certainly have our hands full, probably just aswell we live on a farm😂
To start off with we have Amber the Hungarian Vizsla, who was my first dog, she is the queen of finding a comfortable position and taking up as much space on the sofa as possible. She definitely has me wrapped around her paw.
Our German Shepard Luna is just 1 year old, she loves meeting new people and has definitely tried to go home with a few of the delivery men! She is a great big softy and is quite regularly seen bouncing around the farm yard, her secret talent is wrecking footballs within 5 minutes of being given them.
We have 3 working collies Fly, Midge and Izzy. We say “working” dogs but they are quite often caught chilling in front of the fire. Fly went to help move sheep on a local farm where she got a fright and took off, the whole family spent 24hrs looking for her . She turned up in our yard 9 miles from where she went missing, so we think she has a built in Satnav?
Next up we have out 3 cats Tom, Jasper and Sammy. Tom was found as a feral kitten in our Hay barn, he’s now a big soft lump and several failed diets later he is fondly nicknamed Fat Man.
Jasper and Sammy who were adopted from Oaktree, are our quirky black cats, they like to test their 9 lives by hanging off various places trying new sleeping positions .
Lastly is my Sheep Fiona whom I brought home from the Auction in the boot of my car much to my Dads disapproval, she would sell her soul for a few ginger nut biscuits and she is a very good escape artist. She can be often seen on the road heading up to the farm yard in search of biscuits.

This is Arthur a Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla, who’s nearly 6 and a big drooly softy!

He has helped other dogs in need by being a good boy and donating blood to the pet blood bank (they always need volunteers!)
Unfortunately he developed an immune mediated condition which meant he had to have his spleen removed at 3 years old and could no longer donate…
but that didn’t stop his modelling career where he featured in an ad for life insurance.

To celebrate national pet month we will be sharing our staff pets stories.
Next up we have our vet Pip’s pets;
We have a house full!
Our two cats, Nora and Flo, came to me as day old kittens that I hand reared. I had just discovered I was pregnant, clearly the hormones got the better of me and I couldn’t let my cat babies go to new homes … we still have them 15 years later!
My Tibetan Terrier, Sam, is my most devoted admirer, and couldn’t care less what anyone else asks of him. He has supported me through all sorts of life challenges and is the best walking companion, although sometimes needs a ride in a backpack now.
Our Labrador, Ellie, is just about the most perfect dog we could dream of having in our family, she does get away with all sorts though as one look from her large kind eyes and we forgive all!
Darth, our pony, is very much a muddy family pet, he has somehow even won over my non-horsey husband! This gang keep us busy and the kitchen floor constantly needs washing but our family would not be complete without them.

This month we will be sharing some story’s of our staff pets
First up we have Glenda our nurse Zoe’s cat. This is Glenda, she'll be 10 this Summer. When I was driving to work one day she ran out in front of my car as a teeny 4 or 5 week old kitten. I took her to the SSPCA but no owner came forward, they named her Glenda at the centre and I decided to adopt her 😊 She has always been quite a scared cat and only likes to come to me so I don't know if her parents were feral as it was a rural area I found her. I kept her name as I thought she suited it 😅
We would love for you all to share your pet’s stories with us!
