Our Carlisle dobbies store has an opening for a full time permanent member of staff (38 hours)

This position is 5 days per week including weekends and bank holidays.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in all areas of fish keeping, with previous experience in fish-keeping (not essential) and an enthusiasm for the hobby. The role involves aiding in the day to day maintenance of the store including caring for the wide variety of livestock that we carry and serving customers. High standards of customer service are important to our business and applicants should be enthusiastic and professional. Previous retail experience is preferable.

As a full time sales assistant, the job will require the following;
- Deliver excellent standards of livestock care and store presentation.
- Greet all our customers in an articulate, approachable and friendly manner to maintain our high standards of customer care.
- Communicate your fish-keeping knowledge clearly to customers with varying levels of experience and maintain our policy of responsible fish-keeping.
- Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Complete sales correctly and efficiently ensuring customers leave the store fully satisfied.
- Getting merchandise out onto the shop floor, organising stock neatly on the shelves and making sure it's correctly priced and available.
- Be self-motivated, positive and organised.
- Be reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic to learn.

The yellow tail spiny eel.
A great oddball fish for a large aquarium.
Provided plenty of hiding places and they will be happy.
They have small mouths so most community fish will be safe with these guys as long as it's not tiny. These eels are usually rummaging around the sand or gravel looking for worms, insects and baby fish.

Shrimps are a great clean up crew, they will eat lots of algae but will require supplement food as well.
They can't be kept with large fish as these will be classed as food :(
But great for those small tanks with small fish.

Rocket panchax.
Tiny surface dwelling fish best kept in groups in a planted aquarium.
A few floating plants would be awesome as they will love the cover they provide.

Yellow fin spiny eel.
Macrognathus pancalus.
Max size 18-20cm
These are great community fish and a great odd ball fish.
Small mouths mean they won't eat most fish.
So any deep bodied tetra should be safe (black phantom tetra)
These guys mainly eat insects and small fish usually swimming around the bottom of the tank looking for worms and insects to sn**ch.
You can keep them in groups or singular up, to you just provide plenty of hiding places for them to retreat to.

⭐ snake heads ⭐ wow these guys are stunning 😍 fully grown around 40cm the channa Aurantimaculata. 😍
These prefer cooler water and with large peaceful fish as anything small would be food.
You can keep them in a tropical tank but bare in mind you will want to give these guys a cool period for them to rest look this up online.
These guys are awesome wet pets 😉

These guys love flow and will often sit in it.

Silver hatchet fish now back in store 😁
These are very peaceful fish and love spending most of their time at the top of the tank.
Proved some shady areas with floating plants and these will thrive.

These are very popular we have plenty in store.
These are great for tropical tanks with tank mates that won't bully them or tank mates they would consider food.
Feed well on live tubifex, bloodworm and dried catfish pellets.

Not true! Fish, like humans, will grow to the size their genetics determine. Some species will experience stunted growth or slowed growth rates when kept in too small aquaria or given inadequate water changes.

corydoras black schultzei breeding in the shop. We managed to get the famous T-postion on video if you look closely you'll see eggs fall into the female's ventral fins where she will now swim round looking for a suitable place for her eggs.
