It was off to the beach at Allonby for Maggie, Baloo, Alby, Rufus and Benny. It was a beautiful winters day, very cold but the sun shone through out. Dogs had a wonderful time exploring the beach

The morning started off with thick freezing fog. By the time Maggie, Murphy, Baloo, Indy, Halle and Ernie arrived at Jocky Shield, just through Castle Carrock, we were in beautiful sunshine. We headed up onto Talkin Fell and were soon in substantial snow. We were treated to a nice cloud inversion again (I’ll put a video on after this post). We headed over onto Simmerson Hill and round to Gairs. Progress was quite slow due to the depth of the snow. The dogs are just like kids. Show them the snow and they go crazy. They should all sleep tonight.

Happy New Year everyone, let’s hope it’s a good one.

Seeing in the walking New Year were Maggie, Baloo, Jazz, Lexi, Eric and Murphy. We decided on Gelt Woods and it turned out to be a beautiful day. It was sunny and clear, very cold but we were sheltered from the wind while in the woods. Dogs loved it, I loved it so job done then.

Last walk of the year and Maggie was joined by Baloo, Alby, Rufus, Benny and my daughters 10 month old Basset Hound, Daphne. Due to her age, Daqphne only joined us for the first part of our walk, which was round Kingmoor Woods. After that it was down to the Pettril and through a very muddy Wreay woods. Fortunately they all had a dip in the river before getting back into the van.

Couple of weeks off now and back on 7th January. Hope you all have a great Christmas and all the best for New Year.

Probably the last time this year up in the Geltsdale area, and what a fantastic day it was. Sunny and crisp, besutiful. Maggie was joined by Murphy, Indy, Halle, Harvey, Ernie and Baloo. It was up over Talkin Feqll and Simmerson Hill, before heading up Geltsdale. Returning via the Forrest Head quarries.

Maggie was joined by Baloo, Jazz, Lexi, Eric and Murphy. We went back to our old favourite, Gelt Woods. It’s lovely to walk through the woods when the trees are in full leaf, so many shades of green. I also enjoy this time of year when the trees are bare and you can see features that are hidden at other times, in particular the beautiful cliffs of the gorge. It’s not bad in autumn either! Another lovely walk, our last week before the Christmas break.

It was a lovely long, flat walk today for Maggiie, Eric, Ernie , Murphy, Baloo, Alby and Rufus. It started with a lap of Rickerby Park and the Cricket ground, then round Stoneyholme Golf course and out along the river. Great dog walking territory. One of those days, we met loads of other dogs who were more than willing to play with our lot! They should all sleep well tonight.

This lovely end of year weather is still holding so Maggie decided to head out to Allonby beach with Murphy, Baloo, Jazz, Lexi, Indy, Halle and Harvey. We strolled down to Maryport and back. Saw absolutely no one except for on Maryport Promenade. A lovely relaxing day. Horrible smell of rotten fish on the way home in the van. Don’t know which one has been rolling in a dead fish. Hope it’s not yours!

Maggie was joined by Alby, Rufus, Baloo, Jazz, Lexi, Eric and Murphy. We went up Geltsdale area, starting with Talkin Fell then over to Simmerson Hill and onto the slopes of Brown Fell. A clear, dry day but very cold. Dogs had a great time.

Another week done, and a very enjoyable one at that. Maggie was joined by Baloo, Alby, Rufus and Benny. We did a circuit of Rickerby Park, including the Cricket Club, before going back down to the Suspension Bridge. We crossed the river and up round Bitts Parkand the Sheepmount before doing another mile or so along the Hadrians Wall path. You may have noticed that Benny doesn’t feature heavily in photos. He would much rather be off running around and who can blame him. I thought that I had actually got him to sit and pose for the first picture below, but he was having none of it.

I know a lot of the country has had some very bad weather, but today was another fantastic crisp, cold day for Maggie, Murphy, Halle, Indy, Baloo and Ernie. We went through Gelt Woods and onto Greenwell. It was so cold that I had decided not to throw sticks into the river. First accessible part we come to, yes you have guessed, they all jump in. They just love it. It was then back through the Woods and along to Capontree Rd, then back to the van. A lovely Autumn walk.

A long overdue return to The River Petteril and Wreay Woods for Maggie, Baloo, Jazz, Lexi, Eric and Murphy. It really is a very good dog walk, large fields at either end of the woods where the dogs can race around. A few miles of muddy woodland, where they love a good sniff around, and accompanied all the way by the lovely Petteril. It was then on for a few miles in the beautiful Wetheral Woods.

A lovely walk through Gelt Woods and surrounding areas today for Maggie, Baloo, Rufus, Alby and Benny. Beautiful calm, crisp sunny day again. Maybe the calm before the storm, or storm Bert to be precise.

Another glorious walk in the North Pennines for Maggie, Murphy, Indy, Halle, Ernie, and Baloo. It was -3 when we left the van at the base of Talkin Fell and it only got colder as we climbed that fell and made our way up Brown Fell. You will be pleased to see that your pets have come home clean. Every drop of water, or bit of mud was frozen solid. Most of the day was spent in lovely sunshine but the forecast snow clouds could be seen coming in from the West. We made our way down to Gairs and returned back over Simmerson Hill and Talkin Fell. It really has been a decent Autumn so far. A great walk

Maggie was joined by Baloo, Lexi, Jazz, Eric and Murphy. It was a lovely clear, cold morning, the temperature not getting much above zero. We started in Rickerby Park then headed up river on the Stoneyholme bank. It was a lovely peaceful day. Huge numbers of swans on the river. According to Google there a a number of collective nouns for a collection of swans. My favourite being a ‘bevy’. Quite intoxicating.

A bit different from yesterday. Maggie headed back up to the Pennines with Baloo, Alby, Rufus and Benny. Completely different weather today. Could hardly see a thing and rained almost non stop. Still, as I keep saying, it didn’t bother the dogs who had a great time.
