The only way I can describe today’s perfect passenger is a gentle giant 🐴💙 . Bill is a
3 year old 17.2 shire and his is soooo gorgeous. He didn’t put a hoof wrong just took his visit to The Equine Dental Vet. Melissa Emson all in his stride. We have transported Bill three times now. It has been so lovely to watch him grow in confidence from a yearling to a 3year old . He is definitely a credit to his owner Jemski Caieta .

So happy for Gem and her family 😊 . Gem was one of our emergency transports to Rainbow Equine Hospital on Friday. It is definitely so much more than just a job.. To see Pippa Dean face when we pulled into the yard with her gorgeous pony was priceless 🥰 We dropped Bernie off at Rainbow Equine Hospital a few days early where he underwent surgery by the amazing team there .. Such a privilege to be trusted and chosen to transport Pippa’s precious pony .. Wishing Bertie a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹 Pippa you will be making amazing memories again soon . A telephone call that was music to my ears ??? Read on … Today was the first time in a long long long time I was asked by a potential customer could they see our certification as a legal transporter. Obviously I was proud to send our certificates over. As your horses are our priority
Our certificates include
⭐️ DEFRA Type2 Transporter’s Certificate
⭐️ All drivers have Care and Custody Certificates
⭐️ Hire and Reward Insurance
⭐️ Equine Rescue Breakdown cover

If a transporter you are booking carnt produce these documents don’t put your horses at risk.

To gain Defra certification it is not only about the driver , it is, “does your lorry meet the criteria to be a Type 1 or a Type 2 Transporter “ Defra decide this not the owner of the vehicle.

Choose legal transporters and keep your previous cargo safe.. 🚚💨💨

“How do I know my transporter is operating legally?

There are strict regulations and guidelines regarding the transport of all live animals, not just horses. Some are not that easy to follow and if you wish to read up further, there is a good PDF available from DEFRA by following this link "Transporting Horses PDF".

To sum up in brief for the U.K. and Ireland these are the basics.

The governing bodies in the U.K. are DEFRA and in Ireland DAFM. As the EU brought in these regulations in 2007 they should be applicable to the whole of the EU.

🚚 For short journeys of up to 8 hours:

Type 1 Transporter Authorisation.

Drivers and attendants should be in possession of a Certificate of Competence.

Valid and up to date insurance covering hire and reward.

🚚 For longer journeys over 8 hours:

In addition to the above a Type 2 Transporter Authorisation.

Vehicles inspected and approved, they will have a container certificate.
