A beautiful way to witness pigeons finding a new nesting site.
Feral pigeon like these all come from rock dove originally, they were bred by humans 5000 years ago, so their natural habitat would have been rock ledges and caves. They don't look for trees to nest in, unlike their natural cousins the Eurasian collared doves and wood pigeons.
The male bird looks for a good spot, then calls for his female partner to come and look, if she approves then they kiss, preen and then will nest there.

Little one Sir ian McKellen lived with us for years and in his last few years he came inside our house each night to keep him cozy until he died of old age in 2022.
