Meet & Greet training on our Junior Paws 🐾 Course.
Everybody wants to be able to walk their dog and stop to have conversations with other dog owners calmly, whenever they want but if we don't train our puppies how to do it, from a young age, then often disaster occurs with dogs becoming so over excited or so anxious that stopping to talk seems like such a hassle or makes a dog walk so unappealing.
Here these lovely young dogs & their handlers are trainimg how to avoid an explosive situation using simple training techniques to avoid any sign of unwanted reaction.
Although some of the dogs are jumping up at the owners we are happy that this level of focus from the dogs at this stage is engaging, we can work of getting better manners later but for now the engagement between dog & handler is the most important thing, rather than the dog being more interested in the other human or dog that's heading in their direction.
Excellent work here from all the dogs and humans, especially the dogs for nice loose leads. 👍

Junior Paws - developing the power of play where we build the use of a training toy to create desire for the dogs to choose the toy over other exciting situations. Most dog sports are trained with a toy rather than anything else because it's fun, rewarding and works will a dog natural drive. Training toys should only ever be used with dogs and it owners/handler, you want the dog to understand that the play with the training toy in only accessible by working with the owner to get the reward. We don't want them playing with it by themselves as it takes away the need of the handler.
Play with a training toy should be short and sweet initially, play for 10/15 seconds at a time creates more desire and leaves the dogs wanting more. We don't want them to get board of it coz it gets over used for extended periods of time when starting to develop a great training toy. Less is definitely more.
