The lovely Hugo visited us for his kennel cough vaccine today.
We have previously posted a video guide on how his owner trained him to to accept this.
Here they both are proving the training really
works.
It’s the start of the weekend, so what are your weekend plans?
Maybe it’s time to copy Winston and to chill in the garden?
Or perhaps you plan to go to Carnforth Carnival?
Remember we are open from 10-1 on a Saturday and will be open tomorrow for appointments and medication collection.
Whatever your plans we hope you have a great weekend!
Probiotic pastes are quite commonly prescribed for dogs with diarrhoea, and some owners are concerned about possible difficulties in administering such pastes. As you can see, Guy proves how palatable they are.... so palatable in fact that Florence and Wooster want some as well! 🤣
Mr Jeeves is certainly excited it's the weekend 😊 We would love to see photos or videos of your pets who have that Friday feeling as well 😀
Here Becky and Hugo show us the final piece of the kennel cough conditioning.
If you haven’t seen the previous posts in the mini series please watch them in sequence.
Thanks to his owners dedication this handsome boy is now no longer traumatised when his kennel
cough vaccine is due for renewal.
Kennel cough mini series stage two.
In this clip Becky shows us how to move a stage further , and conditions Hugo to being happy with the handling needed to prepare him for the kennel cough vaccination.
Stage one in the kennel cough mini series.
In our previous post Becky and Hugo introduce themselves . This video clip outlines the start of the process.
As a practice we are well aware of how traumatic the administration of the Kennel Cough vaccine can be for our dogs.
It’s not just the dogs that can find it a scary experience, it can also be hard for owners and as a staff team we’d much rather not have to restrain your dog or to make the process more traumatic.
With this in mind we have enlisted the help of one of our fabulous clients and her gorgeous dog Hugo to show you how you can train your dog to be happy about the process.
Following a very traumatic visit for Hugo’s kennel cough vaccination , Becky decided she wasn’t going to repeat the process again and took it upon herself to help Hugo to be happy about the process. She did a remarkable job and the video series shows exactly how she did it.
Licking is a calming, soothing behaviour for our dogs and toys like the LickiMat Winston is using, or stuffed Kongs not only give your dog something to do but help to calm them and bring down arousal levels.
Many people use peanut butter, in fact that is exactly what this dog is enjoying.
Please only give your dog peanut butter made from 100% peanuts, with no sweetening or oil added.
Some common household brands of peanut butter are starting to use Xylitol instead of sugar.
XYLITOL is EXTREMELY TOXIC to DOGS even tiny amounts can cause hypoglycaemia, seizures, liver failure or even death.
We are so lucky to have some fantastic walking opportunities around us and would love to see pictures of your personal favourites.
Do any of you recognise this bridge?
Where is your favourite walk?
Why do you like it so much?
