I try my hardest to make it the easiest it can be when going to new homes 🏡 from litter tray training, to crate training and even training them to be ok with been left alone (prevent separation anxiety) 🧡

So, I’ve had 7 messages this morning regarding council property tenants having to rehome/euthanise their XL bullies as they do not allow banned breeds in their properties.

Now I’m no expert in this area but, I have a good knowledge of dogs and the law.

“Section 10.4 of the councils tenancy agreements (majority of councils) state that “If the council believes a tenant is keeping a dog of an illegal type in their property, unless the dog is exempted, this is a criminal offence and you should contact the police immediately. Action can also be taken for breach of the Tenancy Agreement”.

If the council are pushing for you to rehome etc please challenge this and explain your dog has an exemption and therefore there is no breach of your tenancy!! If anyone needs any help challenging this please message me! If you have an XL then please start registering them!

You can now apply for exemption certificates for your XL Bullies 🐶 (link is below)

You need to pay the £92.40 (per dog) application fee before you can apply for the exemption (you’ll need the 10 digit code)!

You will also need your dogs microchip number!! (I can help with this if needs be)

Some veterinary practices are offering discounts on neutering/spaying of the breed

Muzzle training also needs to be started asap to ensure your dog is confident and comfortable with wearing one whilst out in public!

Use this service to apply for a Certificate of Exemption to keep XL Bully dogs.

‼️ Important Update on the news today about the XL Bully ban ‼️

I CAN HELP WITH MUZZLE TRAINING, EXEMPTION CERTIFICATES & MICROCHIPPING 💉🐶 If a dog has never had to wear a muzzle trying to get them to wear one can be hard work and quite frightening for them! Please start getting them used to this now 😔

By the 31st December2023 it will be ILLEGAL to
Breed
sell
Advertise
Rehome
Abandon

From the 1st February 2024
It will be illegal to
Own an XL Bully unless it is registered on the Index of Exempted Dogs

Owners who wish to keep their dogs will have until the 31st January 2024 to register their dog for exemption.
The dog must be neutered and microchipped, muzzled and on a lead at all times in a public place and not in the hands of a minor!

What will be defined as an XL is shown below 🐶
