L.A. Dog Grooming was founded by Anna, Aimie & Lorraine in a joint partnership in September 2018.
We came together to open the shop not only as friends but as dog lovers who share the same values. Below you can read about each of the team and what we are most passionate about! As always we strive to provide a personal and professional service. Now you can get to know your dogs’ fur-dresser a little better...
I got Fred my long haired Dachshund 5 years ago, which led me to meet a dog walker. I helped out with dog walking for a number of years, before doing a taster day at a dog groomers. I absolutely loved it! I then went on to complete a City & Guilds Level 2 at Sparsholt College for 6 months. After this I worked in a busy salon for a year to gain experience with handling all types of dog and everyday grooming. I then decided to further my grooming education, by attending Dogs’ Delight grooming salon in Chiswick to complete City & Guilds Level 3. I trained under renown terrier groomer Julie Lalou, gaining distinctions in all my practical exams.
June 2019 I attended Pets Icon Grooming Academy in Malaysia to study asian fusion style grooming.
January 2020 I attended private training in Doncaster with asian fusion style specialist Pammie Carmichael Hogg.
Following this I placed 2nd in the Asian Fusion Open class at The Grooming Show 2020 Competition with Poppy, a friends poochon.
In February 2020 I got my silver toy poodle Meeko to practise these wonderful asian styles on!
My favourite breeds of dogs are Dachshunds, Toy Poodles & Basset Hounds.
My favourite breeds to groom are terriers such as Schnauzers & Welsh in breed standard style & poodles/poodle mixes in asian fusion style.
Aimie
I gained a degree in Mathematics with finance from Kent Uni in 2014. After I graduated I went to work in finance. I quickly decided this was not for me, and my true passion was with dogs!
I managed a busy salon for a number of years, gaining experience in a wide range of breeds.
As a manager I also trained many other groomers and dealt with the more challenging dogs.
From then on I discovered a sense of personal achievement from working with more anxious dogs, improving their behaviour over time. I believe every dog is an individual and needs a different approach to work with their specific behaviours and worries.
I have my own dog - Winston the Basset Fauve de Bretagne (also known as the shop hoover). I enjoy the art of hand stripping (Winston is the guinea pig!) and regularly attend seminars to keep myself up to date with coat care knowledge & breed standards.
I am very partial to a hound dog, but my favourite dogs to groom are large breed dogs due to their nature.
Lorraine
I started my career with animals when I trained at Sparsholt College in Animal Management. After finishing my college education I worked for a large animal retailer, where I provided care for animals until they found their forever home. Whilst working here I had the opportunity to train as a dog groomer, and I haven’t looked back! I've been grooming for 3 years and my true passion is being able to maintain wellbeing for the dogs I groom. I aim to make grooming as enjoyable for the dogs as it is for me.
In 2019 I rehomed my little chihuahua mix Bluey, known by our regular customers as the little dog that looks like an ewok!
My favourite breeds are chihuahuas and small shy dogs who need that little extra time to warm up to strangers.
