Sanctuary Dog, Hunter being daft ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thank you to everyone who has bought food & treats from our Amazon WISH LIST this week. We received beef trachea & chicken feet today ๐
When your human has always taught you that you can make your own choices .... Has always encouraged you to be independent & to make good choices on your own .... When your human allows you plenty of time to figure things out for yourself ..... When this beautiful behaviour has been positively reinforced over the weeks / months / years .....

Remember our Mumma Lucy?
She's had a wonderful Christmas and is being spoilt rotten by her wonderful humans โค๏ธ
Peter & Hunter received some lovely treats today from their Amazon WISH LIST.
Tripe & Rabbits ears from Meg.
A selection box & liver chunks from Mrs Vardon.
And a sack of food from Amy.
We also received some very kind donations via PayPal yesterday.
Thank you so much to everyone who supports us. These giant breeds are expensive to feed and, like we say all the time, we never want to feed them low quality food & treats with poor nutritional value. We like to keep them on a high quality diet with good quality, natural treats which we know makes it expensive if you want to buy them a gift so we really, truly do appreciate all of your support.
We still need more sacks of food this month if anyone can help.

Our Sanctuary Dog, Hunter out with his Foster Mum ๐
Rescue Centres are really struggling at the moment.
Up & down the country. Every Rescue is the same - NO ONE IS ADOPTING BUT EVERYONE IS SURRENDERING.
It's absolutely heartbreaking out there at the moment. We're being asked to help around 6 dogs per day. We've got other Rescue Centres contacting us, asking us to take their Kangals & Anatolians because they've had them for over a year and no one wants them.
We've got Council Dog Pounds begging us to offer a space to their Kangals & Anatolians because the dogs are way over their legal time under Local Authority care and are at a high risk of being put to sleep.
We've got owners needing to sign over their Kangals & Anatolians because they can't care for them anymore.
It's just relentless & never ending at the moment.
We've been discussing the idea of no longer offering a Rescue Space to the "easy" dogs. It feels like our skills, our knowledge & our ability to rehabilitate is "wasted" when we have an easy dog under our care and it feels like a "normal" Rescue Centre could probably help those dogs and we'll only take the difficult ones .... The ones who need work .... The ones who have a colourful past & struggle to accept humans or other dogs.
These are the dogs that no other Rescue will offer a space on.
These are the dogs that will not make it out of the Council Pounds alive.... But these are the dogs that need us the most. They need our experience... Our knowledge... Our skills .... Our time.... They need us to rehabilitate them & to turn them around.
The trouble is, we have a dog like Peter who is easy. He's soppy & loving & a bit of a goofball. He doesn't really need any work .... And yet he's been with us for months!
If we can't even re-home these easy dogs then what hope do we have of rehoming the more challenging dogs, like Hunter?
Hunter was with us for over 2 years before we decided that he should remain with us forever as a Sanctuary Dog.
In a time where people are struggling to pay their heating bills
Hunter-Lovin' ๐๐
Hunter is our Sanctuary Dog.
He was with us for just over 2 years and although he found a couple of new homes in that time, none of them worked out (he really struggled in his early days and would use aggression whenever he was stressed)
He continues to be the most amazing boy and he is doing wonderfully.
Here he is, enjoying having "that" spot scratched ๐คฃ๐คฃ
