Copied from another post. Something alot if people don't know.
What started out as a normal day working in the yard quickly turned into a disaster. We had found a toad roaming around and shared some laughs as our dog sheriff acted terrified of it. The laughs quickly turned into tears as sheriff started puking, foaming at the mouth, running around as if he is not sure where he is, and lastly having a large seizure. I knew that toads could make dogs foam at the mouth but I did not realize they can cause your dog to have horrible symptoms. It’s called toad poisoning and it’s a real thing. Sheriff is luckily okay as of right now and will continue to be monitored as this poisoning can be life threatening to dogs. I had no idea a simple little toad could have killed our dog. I am making this post in hopes that it brings awareness to other dog lovers to keep your dog far away from toads. Even just a little lick can cause unwanted symptoms.

𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘀! 😢

Just a 2-degree Celsius increase in a dog's body temperature is all it takes for heat stroke to kick in. Fatalities can occur in as little as 15 minutes. Never risk leaving your dog in the car for any length of time. Dogs can overheat very quickly and struggle to cool themselves down, even when a window has been left open or water provided. ⚠️

If you believe your dog has heatstroke, visit your vet immediately or contact your nearest out-of-hours Vets Now clinic.

Snake bites are rare but could be life-threatening and should be treated by your vet immediately ⏱️

There are three types of snakes in the UK: grass snakes, smooth snakes and adders. 🐍 The adder is the only venomous species but tends to keep to themselves and don't bite unless they are scared.

Adder bites can happen Feb-Oct but are more common between Jun-Aug. They are most commonly found in long grass, woodland, moorland, and along the coast (sand dunes/coastal paths). Avoid areas well known for adders in the summer months, or when in those areas, keep your dog on the path and on a lead. If you're unfamiliar with the area, do some research to find out if there are any adder hot spots before walking your dog ⚠️

Pet owners are being urged to keep their dogs on a lead during walks near water bodies - here is the reason why

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME.
A dog has never died because he missed a walk or 2. I see so many dogs being dragged along on trips. The car is too hot
The pavement is too hot.
Even the shade is too hot for excerise.
A dog puts his trust in you and only wants to please you. So please give them some thought and leave them home or with a neighbour or pet sitter. A non walked dog is better than a dead dog. Because heat can kill.
