Weโ€™re increasing our capacity to carry out bull fertility testing!
Last week Ellie braved temperatures of -9ยฐC in the Yorkshire Dales to attend a BCVA certified course, which means now her and Becky can both carry out bull breeding soundness exams to the highest standard.

Today our Vet Tech Holly passed her practical assessment and is now officially an Approved Tuberculin Tester (ATT), which allows her to carry out TB tests unsupervised ๐Ÿฅณ
ATTs are assessed on numerous factors and graded from 3 (lowest) to 1+ (highest) and Holly received 1+โ€™s across the board!
A massive thank you to the clients who allowed Holly to fulfil her training requirements on their farms. She had to test over 500 cattle on at least 10 different farms before she could take the practical assessment, so it couldnโ€™t have been done without your help ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’‰

๐ŸŒŸWE WON THE BVA WELLBEING AWARDS 2024๐ŸŒŸ
Awarded by the representative body of veterinary surgeons, these awards celebrate veterinary workplaces that support and enhance the wellbeing of its team.
The judges felt our nomination not only impressed but that the initiatives we have in place surpassed their criteria. ๐Ÿคฉ
On winning, our director Becky said: โ€œOur day one ethos is to be a supportive and happy working environment. Empowering people to be the best they can be in their role ultimately leads to better care of our patients and clients.โ€
To be an independent farm practice, led by an all-female team, we couldnโ€™t be more proud of this achievement๐Ÿฅ‚

Axe Valley Large Animal Vets

On the road from Mendip to Moor... โ€‹ We are a local, independently owned and dedicated large animal practice serving farms, smallholders and horse owners in the community. โ€‹ Everyone who works at our practice lives and breathes within the local community and has its best interests at heart. Our main aim as a veterinary practice is to provide a holistic and all encompassing approach to proactive, preventative large animal medicine that will help to improve animal health and welfare, production and efficiency. This in turn will boost production and subsequently improve farm profits.
