Some photos of the free-roaming community dogs in the Cape Verde islands who I've been pleased to meet this past week.

Whilst most of them have no owners they are content and well-balanced souls, and appear to enjoy their freedom. They are fed & watered, and where possible their health & wellbeing is largely looked after by the islands' amazing animal welfare charities.

OSPA is one of the amazing registered Cape Verdean charities who treat and neuter as many dogs as possible, also educating the locals where they can.They currently have 72 resident dogs and welcome tourist volunteers to help out for any duration of time. TUI also allow you to bring a suitcase of dog food for no charge.

Of course, this isn't to say that we should not have our local & UK based dog shelters & welfare charities in the forefront of our minds. If you are local and have any unwanted dog food, treats, dog coats, collars, harnesses, leads, dog beds, non-feather dog bedding or durable toys etc please look up Dogs Friends based near Rodney Stoke.

How good it's been to see the sun and these ones again today after the Christmas break! ✨️

It's a bit of a shortlived return though because in a few days I'm going on holiday to refuel my energy for 2025 💫 Thank you to my lovely clients for your patience 🧡 In the meantime Happy Hound posts may be few or not at all, but we'll be back from 20th* January! 😀 x

Yippeee, it's a wrap for 2024! ♥️🎄🎅Time to kick back.. well, almost.. and swap the the waterproofs & walking boots for some more chic styles! Thank you to all my lovely clients for helping me have another successful year and for entrusting me with your beloved pooches. I love them all 🐶🐶🐶 And thank you for your cards, chocolates & presents, it's much appreciated!

FUN FACT TUESDAY! 🐾
There are approximately 900 MILLION DOGS across the globe, either being kept as pets, in charity shelters, living in wild packs, or fending for themselves as strays. Makes you think doesn't it. I won't go more political than that.

Over the next seven days the Happy Hound Elf will be leaving a tiny little something for each of the weekly Happy Hounds! 🐾😀🎅❤️

I can't take credit for the baked goodies, the company just shares a similar name: Happy Hound Artisan Dog Bakery, who do fabulous baked cookies made with natural, healthy ingredients ❤️ I'm gutted to say not everyone has their full quota though, as some of the personalised bone biscuits have grown mould 😭 I'm so sorry not everyone will get theirs but for those who do they ARE still in date!
