You’ve probably seen it — your dog hiding a bone, toy, or treat in the backyard or under a blanket.
It might seem funny or strange, but this behavior runs deep into canine history.

Long before dogs lived in cozy homes, their wild ancestors buried extra food to save it from scavengers and keep it fresh for lean times.
Even though your pup has a full bowl every day, that instinct to “store for later” is still there.

Sometimes it’s not survival at all — just comfort, boredom, or possessiveness.
Hiding a toy can feel like “saving a treasure,” and digging it up later brings joy all over again.

So if your dog buries a bone or hides their favorite plush — don’t worry.
It’s not weird. It’s ancient. 🐶✨

Dogs and their owners often end up reflecting each other's personalities, creating a unique bond over time. People who are active and outgoing usually find themselves with lively and sociable pups, while those who tend to be anxious or negative might notice their dogs exhibiting fearful or aggressive behaviors. The daily routines and emotional ties that develop between them only deepen these similarities. How owners live and act can really influence their dogs’ behavior, leading to a harmonious reflection of temperaments. This close-knit connection is why so many individuals feel their dogs are just an extension of themselves.

What if your dog’s heart reaches beyond you—straight to other dogs too? 🐾❤️

Studies show it does. Dogs aren’t just skilled at reading human emotions—they also recognize and respond to the feelings of their canine friends.

When two dogs who know each other well play, something fascinating happens. If one yelps or gets tense, the other often pauses, softens, and sends calming signals. Researchers call this rapid mimicry and emotional contagion—the earliest signs of empathy.

We see it in humans too. If you cry, many dogs lean in, lick your face, or just sit quietly by your side. In experiments, dogs were more likely to approach and comfort someone upset than someone calm. Some even tried to “rescue” distressed owners trapped behind a door.

And empathy doesn’t stop at people. After dog fights, opponents often reconcile. Sometimes, a third dog steps in to comfort the victim—something researchers call consolation behavior.

Are dogs perfect empaths? Not exactly. Their motivation can mix with training, treats, or curiosity. But the bigger picture is clear: dogs feel with us, and they feel with each other.

So when your dog nudges you after a sigh, or lays close when another dog whines—that’s not a trick. That’s empathy. And it’s part of what makes their bond with us (and each other) so extraordinary. 🐶✨

Heartbroken 💔 today because we will have to say goodbye to our best friend Snoop. She had 4 seizures yesterday and with a suspected brain tumour. So I have to let the brightest light in my life go over the rainbow bridge 🌈

Today, the Animal Welfare Bill had its second reading in the House of Lords - a key milestone in our 11-year campaign to protect dogs from this cruel and illegal trade.

Thanks to your support, the Bill includes vital measures we’ve long called for:
·Raising the minimum import age for puppies to 6 months
·Banning the import and sale of dogs with cropped ears and docked tails
·Tougher penalties for illegal importers
It’s not law yet, but this is a meaningful step forward.

Have you ever noticed your dog sneezing in the middle of a play session? It’s not always about dust or allergies—sometimes it’s actually a communication tool.

Experts call it a “calming signal.” When dogs sneeze during play, they’re sending a message to both humans and other dogs: “I’m just having fun. I’m not being aggressive.”

This little signal helps prevent rough play from escalating into real fighting. It’s one of the many fascinating ways dogs use body language and subtle cues to keep the peace.

So next time your pup sneezes while wrestling or chasing another dog, know that it’s their way of saying: “Relax, I’m friendly!”

DEDICATED TO MAKING A DOGS LIFE BETTER.

Buddy is a 2 year old Pomsky he lives with his older stepsister Snoop who is an 8 year old Whippet/Scotts Terrier. We have to walk and run loads everyday so more dogs the merrier.

We all understand how important it is to keep our dogs active and fit with as much exercise as they can handle but its not always possible as modern day life can be hectic and sometimes it’s difficult to fit everything in.

When it comes to our pets, they become part of our family and it’s always hard to leave them behind when you have to go away somewhere last minute, or you decide that you need some sun and unfortunately you can’t take your beloved pets on a flight so easy.

Your circumstances may have changed, meaning less time spent at home due to longer working hours, or an injury may be making it impossible for you to get out with your dog.
