***URGENT WARNING***
There has been multiple poisonings of dogs who have been walked behind the Nature Reserve at Cleevelands Estate in Bishops Cleeve. Although there has been confirmed toxic material before reported at the Nature Reserve, these 3 cases (sadly 1 fatal) the area walked was the farmers field behind it. The field is accessed in 3 places. The official footpath is at the end of the reserve over a wooden V gate.
AVOID THIS AREA.
I am meeting someone from Tewkesbury Council this afternoon to confirm with them the exact location. The Vets are sure it is a poison used by Farmers to kill foxes, Rabbits & rats and can easily be fatal to dogs who ingest a small amount.
I will personally do everything I can to bring the person responsible to account.
Please please avoid this whole area and keep your dogs away.

Did you know about dog identity disc/tag law?

Many dog owners assume that a name and phone number are sufficient when engraving a tag. However, under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, which applies in England and Scotland, dog owners must ensure their pets wear a tag with the owner’s name and address, including the postcode. While phone numbers can be helpful for quick contact if a dog gets lost, they are not a substitute for the required information.

Ticks! 🪳
These pesky critters are rife at the moment.
Check your dogs daily so you can act quickly to eliminate them. Run your fingers over their entire body and pay particular attention to the head and neck area. If you find a tick (it will look like a half size garden pea, pink/grey or purple depending on how much blood it has taken) Don't pull it off! It burys its head and front legs under the skin of the dog and hooks itself in. If you pull the body off you can leave the head under the skin.
There are a few methods to safely remove them. You can freeze them with a tick freeze spray or use a Vet approved flea and tick killer chemical spray, a tick remover tool works well but follow the instructions. Be careful using sprays near the eye area. Another method is to mix pure lavender essential oil with white wine vinegar and soak a cotton wool ball, cover and hold over the tick for 30 seconds.
Regular flea and tick treatments will protect your dog but won't stop them jumping on.
Ticks can carry Lyme disease that can cause health problems to humans too. Make sure the tick is dead before you dispose of it.
If any of my clients dogs have Ticks and you aren't confident to remove them, I can do it for you.

Looking for dog groomer recommendations for an elderly client with a mini Dachshund who needs her nails clipped. Vets have refused to do it unless sedated. She would like to see if a groomer would attempt to try first.
