Keeping it small but Harley will be back out Eventing on the 23rd March at Offchurch as part of the Cotswold Cup series. This will be his first event back after his spondylosis diagnosis in 2021 so it’s been a while, he’s come on so far so let’s get to these Champs! Mum is keen to take him out too so he’s gonna be having a lot of fun back out at parties! Love this new top I’ve been trying out from Forme Science, this is a posture correcting tee which is brilliant for both riding and the gym 💪🏼

NOVEMBER TRAINING TIP 🙌🏼

Winter training is upon us, here’s a little inspiration to tune up, build muscle and bring both your heads in the game - ready to tackle your dressage tests with suppleness and your courses with accuracy..

Set out:
🌀 A fan of 4 poles, approx 2 small steps apart from the middle of each
🌀 2 x canter poles with 2 poles in each, set on a 90 degree angle with enough space to canter through both
🌀 Skinny poles ( wide ones if you wanna make it easier ) set with approx 2 small steps apart to trot through
🌀 Another 2 canter poles set off the side of the arena

Check out my story highlight for visual!

With this, I practiced:
canter lead changes, canter/trot over 2 sets of canter poles, suppleness and bend in trot over fan to pick up canter after to poles which can be done vice versa, straightness in trot/canter using trot skinny poles to then move around arena to keep this consistent through wider elements and so on..

Tailoring the exercise 🌀⬇️

You can make this exercise whatever you wanna practice as it’s versatile- a few examples as such..

Youngster can trot through 2x poles on 90 degree angle and implement different shapes around arena ( serpentine/ figure of 8/ diagonal change) to reach next pole set or..
More advanced horse can practise different trot paces through fan depending if you ride on outside line ( lengthen strides slightly ) the middle or inside line ( collect ) as well as canter lead changes over these poles

Any questions? Feel free to send me a message, I’d also love to see your go at this!

Give my supporters a follow, I’ll gratefully appreciate anyone that checks them out - go give them a follow..

There’s typically a lot of hassle trying to sell your old lorry, they’ve made the process so much easier from the get go - not only do they keep the sale transparent but they also look immaculate as well as work as such. A lovely Christmas present for someone lucky with their Black Friday sale not a better time to grab your next party mobile 🤪

JUNE TRAINING TIP 📢

Last week, I had the opportunity to base at Mollie Summerland Eventing to learn from her expertise to elevate my own performance 🙌🏼
Here’s what we got up to in one lesson..

EXERCISE:
Once again, you can shorten these exercises to fit in a smaller arena! Set up as follows and have included sketch on my highlights to help visualise this set up..
- 3x bounces with the middle bounce set in only to one side so can go through 2x bounces on one approach and as a 1 stride if riding the alternate side it’s set up
- 3 x fences set in a triangle shape so can ride 2x from each angle/rein as a 2 strided offset
- An oxer to an upright on a 6 strided distance

WHAT I FOCUSED ON:
- Keeping my eye and body on the line, ensuring I’m completely straight and allowing the canter to flow but not become too overpowering to overshoot the angle
- Allowing my hands to be softer by going with the movement over the bounces. Not being rein reliant when jumping so can be bolder when approaching and keeping my core engaged, can hold a neckstrap here if finding it difficult to not pull them over/near a fence ( I worked on this with Quiz in a grid )
- Looking for my line and approach in a combination by peeping at the final element, keeps from potentially looking ⬇️ and encourages straightness and positivity
- Not throwing my body at a fence and waiting for it to come to me, keeping body still with legs engaged and hands forward in approach. Especially as jumping on different angles where accuracy is key!
- In my grid lesson ( but apply to any same scenario! ) when there’s not much space on approach actually take time to gauge impulsion in the canter and contain in, stay on the line longer and push out the corner. Don’t think about the striding as if you’re canter is strong, it will sort you out regardless

I’m posting a new each month to help YOU find new exercises and tips that I’ve learnt along my journey, making each training session count 😁 I’d love to head what you’d like to see next, let me know in the comments/DM or in the story question box 📦
