And that's a wrap (🎁)!
Last walks done for the year. Merry Christmas to all my Fluffy Feet family. Thanks for another great year together. 2022 has had its ups and definitely it's downs. We will be starting next year without a beloved member of our family. My thoughts and prayers are with Bella's family over the Christmas period. Here's hoping 2023 can be better for us all.
Have a wonderful break. Lots of love,
Holly xx and Nellie 🐾

Last night a member of my Fluffy Feet family was taken from us far too soon.
Bella was a beautiful, sweet natured snuggle bug. She was so loved and pampered by her amazing family and very much loved by me too. She had been with me from a tiny puppy right up to yesterday's fun and antics in the snow with her friends. At 4yrs old she did not have a long life but it was definitely a charmed one. She will be desperately missed by anyone and everyone who knew her. There is a very definite Bella shaped hole in my heart right now.
Sleep well sweet angel. We'll go walkies again when I catch up to you 🌈💔😥

Day 7 of Pet First Aid Awareness Month.

This post is going to be about a potential injury that can happen occasionally, especially to active dogs, working dogs, gun dogs etc.

If a dog lands on a fence post or a sharp broken branch they can damage the Brachial artery which is runs through the armpit. Like humans, it's a difficult place to tourniquet so the best action is to apply pressure immediately using your fist, hands, fingers etc

As the photograph shows, a tennis ball is a great object to use to help reduce blood loss. Jam it in the armpit and keep it there hard as possible until you get to the Vets. It may just reduce blood loss enough for the dog to recover.

This is an injury I have had experience with working in Veterinary Practice
