Do you have to leave your dog at home while you are at work, or busy with family commitments? Let us help you by coming during the day to take your dog out for a nice long walk! It will put your mind at rest and give your dog something to look forward to during the day, and when you get home you can enjoy quality time with your pet while he or she is relaxed and well exercised!
We walk every weekday, rain or shine, and we do at least an hour’s actual walking time, not including travelling time. We will pick your dog up from your home in our fully ventilated van, properly equipped with individual cages so that everybody travels safe and sound, and take them for a lovely walk at our chosen location. After the walk we will deliver your tired and happy dog home, rub down with a towel if necessary and put down food and fresh water as required.
All about us
ICanWalkYourDog.com is owned and run by me, Karen Huwen. I have lived with and owned dogs virtually my whole life and have been a dog walker for 12 years. I am also currently studying canine behaviour and psychology with a view to becoming a qualified Dog Behaviourist. I also have another person who accompanies me on all walks, so there are two pairs of eyes watching over your dogs! We are both experienced, professional dog walkers, with regular clients in Cuffley, Cheshunt, Goffs Oak, Potters Bar and Cockfosters. Between us we own three very active border collies and we understand the needs and time commitment it takes to care for a dog and give them the exercise and mental stimulation they need. This is why we decided to launch a dog walking service so that while you are away at the office or taking care of family commitments, you can be happy in the knowledge that your dog is being walked safely and looked after.
We are extremely fond of the dogs we regularly walk, and treat them as we would our own. We carefully select which dogs to walk together to ensure a happy sociable group. We do two or three daily group walks. Unfortunately, at present due to lack of time, we are not able to offer individual dog walks, nor will we take on dogs that exhibit dominant or aggressive behaviour
For your peace of mind
We are CRB checked and fully insured for dog walking and key-holding. Your security is important to us and house keys are never kept together with any addresses or identifying documents. We never exceed the amount of dogs we are insured to handle. (The legal maximum for any single dog walker at any one time is six dogs). Unfortunately a lot of walkers do take on more dogs than they are insured for, which is irresponsible and dangerous.
We transport dogs in individual cages, so they have their own space to relax on the journey – this is really important for your dog’s safety while travelling, and is far less stressful for dogs than being loose amongst several dogs in a confined space. The van is properly ventilated for your dog’s comfort.
Before we start walking your dog, we will visit you in your own home to discuss your needs in detail and so that you can meet us and we can see your dog in its own environment. We will take notes about your dog’s age, health, habits and foibles, and anything else that makes your pet unique! We will also need two emergency contact numbers and your vet details and contact information - just in case.
We will only walk your dog off lead with your written consent and only when we are confident that your dog will return reliably when called.
We carry a canine first aid kit in the van with us at all times and every possible care will be taken to keep your dog safe. If by any chance we are unable to contact you in an emergency and immediate medical attention is needed, we will take your dog to the nearest vet in the area.
