During December when we become more festive than normal, it's important to remember certain plants can be very toxic to our pets. Be careful of Ivy's, Holly and more. If you are worried you can give us a call for advice. Pets don't have to ingest a plant to show signs of toxicity so be careful and enjoy some pet friendly greenery. πŸŽ„

With everyone likely having their Christmas decorations up or getting ready to do so, we thought we would remind you to keep them in a safe place/ height from any puppies or kittens.

Things like fake snow on the Christmas trees can be toxic and always be aware of small fluffy balls or feathers that can easily be gobbled up.

❄️Happy decorating!❄️

Is it really necessary to vaccinate my pet?
YES! - Generally in the UK we are very good at vaccinating our pets, hence, as a result of this, many of the diseases that we can protect against have become less common. However, following lockdown we’re concerned vaccine rates have fallen, which could lead to an increase in diseases such as parvovirus & distemper, which sadly can be fatal. It is also important to help prevent pets from passing on a disease such as Leptospirosis, which can be passed from animals to humans.
Vaccination is the only way to keep these diseases from becoming too widespread!🦠

It's a tick!
Remember to check your pet over if they have been outside, especially in woodland areas or tall grasses.
Ticks are big enough for you to see with your eyes, just gently brush your hands over their fur & feel for a lump.
Ticks can carry diseases such as Lymes Disease, which can affect both animals & humans, and the possibility of paralysis. Quick removal reduces the risk of disease.
It is very important to remove a tick correctly - do not use tweezers to pull them off as this can leave the head behind. They must be removed using a twisting action in order to remove the whole head & body. We stock special tick remover tools to make it quick & easy.
You may hear of the 'suffocation method' but be careful of your pet ingesting the product you use. It won't be as quick, & the tick still requires removal if they don't come out.
