Clipping season 😍

We get a lot of clients asking “why we shave our horses hair in winter”. So here’s a very simplified explanation. Over the winter months horses tend to grow a thicker and denser coat. This is a great way of keeping them warm as the temperature drops. However when horses are in some form of work/exercise the winter coat causes them to sweat profusely. Which in turn increases the risk of them losing body condition, becoming uncomfortable and can even cause a chill if left wet with sweat in the colder temperatures. So we simply remove the amount of coat necessary to make them comfortable when in work and make up for it with cosy rugs when not being worked.
**Spot on the other hand… is just a complete scruff bag over winter so gets a clip as to keep him nice and tidy (oh and for the rare few minutes work he may do when doing zoomies 😂)

It is with great sadness we have to share with you the passing of our beloved, Little Dolly 💔
After a very quick and unexpected onset of illness we had no choice but to make the heart breaking decision to let her gallop over the rainbow bridge.
We will be forever grateful for her years spent with us and helping to bring so much joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Go easy little girl and don’t cause too much trouble up there 🥹❤️

OWN A HORSE DAY 😍
An absolute pleasure of a day for all involved!

We had an action packed day which started with learning how to muck out and followed up with grooming and tacking up. This led the group onto their first ride of the day. The group lesson consisted of learning and improving school movements and forward thinking when riding. We then asked each rider to prepare a short show for the PM ride to showcase their knowledge and skills. After a well earned lunch we moved onto a Dressage Demo to help give our riders a better understanding of what we are looking at from the ground and how that transfers into feeling when they are on board. After receiving some inspiration from our dressage demo the ladies got tacked up for the second ride of the day in which they all put on a lovely individual show despite the increasing heat! Once the horses got a good cooling off it was on to our Farrier Demo. This was very new territory for most and gave everyone a good starting base of knowledge for how important hoof structure and care of the hoof is. Finally after a very warm and tiring day everyone got the chance to relax with a refreshing drink and nibbles whilst discussing the highlights of the day!
A massive thank you to all of our wonderful team who pulled together to make today a success. And of course our wonderful horses who behaved impeccably all day despite the rather toasty climate.

If you would like to join us next time please leave us a comment below so we can get something lined up for you all ❤️
