📣 Less Than One Week to Go! 🐾

We’re into the final stretch of the consultation period for our proposed secure dog park at Chester Moor—and now’s the time to rally together and show just how much local support there is for this exciting project!

A safe, enclosed space where dogs can run, train, and play freely has been a long-standing request from so many in our community. This is OUR chance to bring that vision to life—and every letter of support helps get us one step closer.

There are a few final hurdles to clear, and it's more important than ever that we show how much this facility means to local people. With strong community backing, we can move forward with confidence and work with the authorities to create something truly special.

If you're local, please take just 10 minutes to write a quick letter of support via the planning portal. If you've already done so—thank you! 💚 Please spread the word to friends, family, neighbours and fellow dog lovers. Sharing this post could be the small action that makes a HUGE difference.

We're going above and beyond to make Chester Moor Dog Park one of the safest, most secure facilities in the area 💪🐾

We’re using Tornado Light C14 fencing, with 5cm vertical spacings so even the smallest dogs can’t squeeze through, and a total height of 6ft with an angled top to prevent jumping. To go one step further, 50cm (500mm) of the fencing will also be buried underground to stop any escape artists trying to dig out!

Each field will be accessed via 6ft metal deer gates fitted with coded locks. Our online booking system will be slick and simple—book your session, receive your unique code, and you’re good to go.

✅ Drive-in access means you can pull into your reserved field, close the gate behind you, and let your dog out safely inside the enclosure—no stress, no risk, no crossovers.

🚶‍♀️ Local customers are also encouraged to walk to the park. Simply head up the track on foot, enter your code at the gate, and your dog can enjoy safe, secure freedom in the field just the same.

If you haven’t already, we’d love your support in helping us bring this park to life. 🐶 Please consider submitting a short letter of support via the council’s planning portal—the more support we receive from local residents, the stronger our case becomes. Let's make this safe space a reality for dogs and their owners in Chester Moor! 💬

Our proposed dog park at Chester Moor, Chester-Le-Street is designed to provide a safe, secure, and convenient space for off-lead exercise. The layout ensures easy vehicle access, fully enclosed fields, and a structured booking system to keep dogs safe and prevent unnecessary interactions.

🚗 Entrance & Track (Red & White Spot Area)
- The double entrance (Red Loop) will remain open, allowing cars to pull straight off the roundabout.
- A new hardcore track will be laid, running alongside the existing hedge (left side) with a new standard fence on the right.
- This track leads directly to the two fully enclosed dog parks.

🐶 Two Secure Dog Parks (Solid Green and White / Orange Spot Area)
- Each field will be fully enclosed with 6ft fencing around the perimeter and secured with a 6ft coded gate.

🔒 Secure Entry & Booking System
- Owners will receive a key code upon booking to access their park.
- On arrival, cars will drive into the field, park on the hardcore inside the enclosure, and the gate will be locked behind them before letting their dog out—eliminating any escape risk.
- 50-minute slots will be available per hour with staggered arrival times to ensure no crossovers between the two fields.

🌿 Privacy & Additional Safety Features
-A hedge will be planted between the two parks so dogs cannot see each other.
-Additional barriers will be installed to remove any gaps, addressing a key concern for dog owners.

📢 Support Our Application!
- If you’d like to see this safe, secure dog park become a reality, there’s still time to submit a letter of support to the council. Every voice counts in showing how much this facility is needed! Thank you so much for your time and support, we really hope we can make this a reality soon!

🚨Chester Moor Dog Park Planning Application – We Need Your Support! 🚨

Our Planning Application Is NOW Live 🥳🥳🥳

After over a year of hard work, our planning application is officially live on the Durham County Council website. We have reached the crucial public consultation period, and this is where YOU can make all the difference. Your support during this stage could be what finally brings a safe new dog park to our community.

🐶 Why This Park Is Important? 🐶

We know first-hand how much our community needs this facility. Safe, secure dog-walking spaces are in short supply in our area, and local dog owners often struggle to find places for off-lead exercise. We’re passionate about creating a dedicated dog park where pets can run freely and safely. To get approval for the park, however, we must show strong community backing – which means gathering as many letters of support as possible from people like you.

💬 How You Can Help (In 15 Minutes or Less) 💬

Submitting a letter of support is quick and easy – it might only take 15 minutes of your time, but it could be the deciding factor in making this park a reality. Here’s how to add your support on the council’s planning portal:

1. Visit the Planning Application Page: Click the planning application link below for Chester Moor Dog Park on the Durham County Council website.

2. Go to the Comments Section: Scroll down to find the “Comments” area on that page.

3. Log In or Register: Sign into your Durham County Council planning account. (If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to register – it’s free and only takes a moment.)

4. Submit Your Comment in Support of our Application: Leave a short comment explaining why you support the dog park. It can be a brief personal note about why a secure dog park matters to you or how it will benefit the community.

🗣️ Spread the Word 🗣️

After you’ve submitted your comment, please share this message with friends, family, and fellow dog lovers. The more people who write in support, the stronger our case becomes. This is the final push to get our dog park approved — let’s make it happen together! 💪🐶

🐾 Why Private Secure Dog Fields Matter – A Safe Space for Every Dog 🐾

Not every dog can safely run off-lead in public spaces, and that’s exactly why we’re creating a secure, enclosed dog park—a place where all dogs, no matter their breed, size, or temperament, can enjoy the freedom they deserve!

🌟 The Benefits of a Secure Dog Field

✅ A Safe Environment for Recall Training
Does your dog have selective hearing when it comes to recall? 😆 A secure field provides a controlled, distraction-free space to practice recall without the fear of them running off. It’s perfect for puppies, rescue dogs, and those still mastering their recall skills!

✅ A Legal & Secure Space for Restricted Breeds
Some breeds, such as XL Bullies, must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public areas under UK law, but that doesn’t mean they should miss out on the chance to exercise, play, and enjoy off-lead time in a safe environment.

✅ Stress-Free Play for Nervous & Reactive Dogs
Not every dog is comfortable in public parks. Whether they’re nervous around other dogs, reactive to strangers, or simply need a calm space, our secure fields give them the chance to run, sniff, and play without anxiety. Owners of reactive dogs can finally relax and enjoy their time outdoors without worrying about unexpected encounters.

✅ The Perfect Place for High-Energy Breeds
Some dogs just need that extra space to stretch their legs and burn off energy! 🏃‍♂️ Breeds like Border Collies, Springer Spaniels, Huskies, and Belgian Malinois thrive on off-lead exercise, but finding a safe space to let them run full speed can be a challenge. Our secure field will give them the freedom to zoom without risk!

✅ Ideal for Puppy Socialisation & Training
Introducing puppies to the world in a safe, controlled way is crucial for their development. A secure park offers the perfect space for puppy playdates, training meetups, and early socialization, all while keeping them safe from potential hazards in open public spaces.

✅ Freedom for Dogs with Poor Recall, Injuries, or Special Needs
Whether it’s an older dog who needs gentle exercise, a deaf dog who relies on hand signals, or a dog recovering from an injury, a secure park means they can still enjoy outdoor time without limitations.

✅ A Hassle-Free Space for Owners Who Just Want to Exercise Their Dogs
Sometimes, you just want to let your dog run and enjoy themselves without worrying about traffic, other dogs, or distractions. A secure field offers peace of mind, letting you and your dog enjoy a stress-free outing.

📣 How You Can Support This Project 📣

We’re still waiting on final approval, but we’ll be sharing a planning portal link soon for those who want to show their support and help us bring this much-needed facility to the area. Every bit of support from the community makes a difference!

Would a secure dog field make life easier for you and your dog? Let us know in the comments! 👇🐶💬

🐾 Built by Locals, for Locals – A Dog Park Designed for YOU! 🐾

This isn’t just any dog park—it’s a park that will be built by the community, for the community. Every decision has been shaped by the dogs and owners who will call this place home. 🏡🐶

We surveyed 300 local dog owners to design a park that truly meets the needs of our community—whether your pup loves zoomies, sniffing every blade of grass, or just lounging in the sun. With council approval, we’ll bring this vision to life, creating the best possible space for dogs and their owners. And we’re committed to continually improving and adapting to make sure it only gets better!

But we’re not just building a park—we’re building a local dog-loving COMMUNITY. That means supporting small businesses, dog walkers, groomers, trainers and everyone who helps keep our pups happy and healthy. 🐾💼

Now, let’s show just how strong our local dog community is! Drop a photo of your pup in the comments, introduce them, and tag your favourite local dog business and fellow dog owners. Let’s fill this thread with wagging tails, happy faces, and promote the incredible businesses that keep our dogs thriving! 💚🐶👇

🐾 Keeping Your Dogs Safe – No Matter Their Size! 🐾

When we set out to design our dog park, we knew security had to be a top priority. After surveying over 300 local dog owners, one issue kept coming up—dogs escaping! Whether it was through climbing, digging, or finding weak spots caused by wear and tear, too many parks just weren’t secure enough.

We’ve listened, and we’re taking every precaution to ensure your four-legged friends stay safe while they play. Here’s what we’re committing to:

✅ 6ft otter fencing above ground to stop even the most determined dogs.
✅ 100mm wired fencing buried below ground to prevent escape artists from tunneling out.
✅ 2mm heavily galvanised steel wire with ONLY 5cm gaps—so no dog, no matter how small, can squeeze through.
✅ Multiple daily checks to ensure our fencing stays strong and secure, with immediate repairs if needed.

We’re dedicated to high standards, regular maintenance, and a safe space for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Your peace of mind matters to us, and we won’t compromise on safety!

🐶 Because a secure dog park means happy dogs and happy owners! 🐶

🐾 Two Fields, Designed for Every Dog’s Needs! 🐾

We know that every dog is unique, which is why we’re creating two dedicated fields, each designed to provide the perfect environment for different personalities, training needs, and energy levels!

🌟 Adventure & Enrichment Field 🌟

For dogs who love to explore and engage their senses, this field will feature:
🐾 Tyre enrichment areas – Encouraging natural problem-solving and sensory engagement.
🐾 Play structures – Designed for fun and mental stimulation.
🐾 Sensory zones – A variety of textures, scents, and obstacles to keep dogs engaged.

💡 Perfect for: High-energy dogs, social dogs, and those who thrive on mental stimulation. It’s also a great space for confidence-building and keeping active in a safe, secure setting.

🌿 Natural Open Space Field 🌿

A calm, open field with a mix of long and short grass, providing a peaceful, controlled space for dogs who:
🐾 Prefer a quiet, stress-free environment to run freely.
🐾 May be nervous, reactive, or in training, needing a secure, enclosed area.
🐾 Enjoy sniffing and exploring at their own pace without distractions.
🐾 Have mobility issues or are older, requiring a gentler space to roam safely.
🐾 Need an open but controlled space for recall and obedience training in a natural park setting.

💡 Perfect for: Owners looking for a safe environment to train their dogs off-lead, practice recall, or work on socialisation without the unpredictability of public spaces.

🛑 A Thoughtful Design for Peace of Mind 🛑

To create a calm and stress-free experience, there will be a 1-meter buffer zone between the two fields, with plenty of plants and natural barriers along the boundary. This ensures dogs won’t be distracted or reactive toward those in the neighboring field, making it a secure and relaxed environment for all.

We’re committed to creating a space where every dog—no matter their personality, training level, or energy needs can feel safe and thrive!

✨ Which field would your dog love most? Let us know in the comments! 👇🐾

🐾 Chester Moor Dog Park – We Need Your Support! 🐾

After a year of hard work, countless meetings, and back-and-forth with the council, highways agencies, planning authorities, ecologists, and more, we have finally submitted our application to bring Chester Moor Dog Park to life! 🎉

But now, we need your help—because without enough public support, this park may never exist.

📢 What’s Next?
In the next two weeks, we expect an update from the local council regarding our application. This is the critical stage where they will consider whether this park should go ahead.

🏡 How You Can Help – Right Now!

✔️ Spread the word! Ask your friends, family, colleagues, and fellow dog lovers to follow our page and show their support. The more public backing we have, the stronger our case!

✔️ Letters of Support. We will soon need locals to submit letters of support to the council to prove how much this park is needed. If we don’t have enough community backing, it won’t happen. If you’re happy to help, send us a message or email us on [email protected], and we’ll update you as soon as the application link is available.

This is it—the next few weeks will determine whether Chester Moor Dog Park becomes a reality or remains just a dream of ours. If you want to see this park happen, now is the time to get involved.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far—we need one final push to make this happen! 🐶✨

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 6:

🐾 Community 🐾

We all know how good walks are for our mental health, however sometimes they can be quite lonely. Here at Chester Moor Dog Park we are committing to improving our local community by having regular dog sessions available for everyone to book onto. These sessions will include specific breed meet ups, puppy socialisation sessions, confidence boosting sessions and much more. We are also working with experienced dog trainers to give our customers easy access to training sessions like these with experienced personnel to help work on any specific issues our fluffy friends might have.

We are committing to all of these because we know how much socialisation and community matters not just to our dogs but our humans too and we want our customers to feel incredibly valued and part of something special 🥰

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 5:

🐾 Accessibility 🐾

Here at Chester Moor Dog Park we’re committing to providing a safe and easy access dog park for people with disabilities and or older people who may not be able to walk.

With a completely private and free parking area within each field. Owners won’t have to worry about their dog escaping before their leads go on, as there will be no leads needed. Simply drive in to our secure field, lock the gate behind you and then allow your dog to roam the field you are parked in. From there, owners will be able to stay on the hard standing car park while their dogs run free, or make their way along the wheelchair friendly hardcore path to our sheltered area.

We are so excited to show you what we have been working on, stay tuned for more information coming soon 🤍

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 4:

🐾 Socialisation 🐾

Socialisation is extremely important for a happy dog, however for more reactive and nervous dogs, being around other animals can be extremely daunting. Chester Moor Dog Park is being designed around providing an extremely supportive environment where these dogs can gradually and safely build up to various social interactions making them easier over time.

We’re committing to organising specific breed play groups and socialisation play groups to help with exactly this! Under supervision by each individual dog owner, your dog can engage with other dogs allowing them to slowly build up their confidence and develop positive associations with socialising.

Our controlled and monitored approach will help reduce both the fear and anxiety that so many dogs have. Resulting in both a happier dog and human 🤍

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 3:

🐾 Training Excellence 🐾

When it comes to training any breed, it is extremely important to allow your dog to be able to concentrate on exactly what you as the owner are trying to teach it. By training in a secure dog park, you can instantly remove all unwanted distractions by providing a controlled environment.

A large part of training your dog includes off leash training. At Chester Moor Dog Park you can do this without the worry of your dog running away, interrupting / being interrupted by other dogs or creating a nuisance to members of the public. Eliminating all of these distractions will give you peace of mind, allowing you to put 100% of your efforts into the training session, providing better results for both you and your dog.

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 2:

🐾 Exercise and Fitness 🐾

All dogs like humans need regular walks to maintain both their physical and mental well-being. At Chester Moor Dog Park we’re committing to acres worth of space for your dogs to stretch their legs in a safe environment. Whether it’s fetching a ball, getting out all those zoomies, playing with other dogs, using our agility facilities or simply having the freedom to move, explore and build confidence in a safe field. Our secure park will allow your dog to burn off all their energy, stay fit and healthy whilst reducing the risk of obesity-related health problems.

Let’s talk about the main benefits of using a secure dog park!

Number 1:

🐾 SAFETY 🐾

Have you ever been on a dog walk and seen a much larger dog charging towards yours with the owner screaming its name behind them? Your brain hoping it’s a friendly dog and that it will cause no danger to yours?

One of the biggest benefits of a secure dog field is your dog is completely free from other dogs and their reactive behaviour. In our enclosed field, your dog will be able to enjoy off leash adventures without any external dangers.

Consequently as an owner you can switch off and relax from the added stress your surrounding areas can cause, knowing your dog isn’t going to stumble into an area where it’s not welcome.

With our private booking system you can enjoy all of the above at Chester Moor Dog Park. However, if socialisation is something you really do want to gain from your dog walking experience. You can book onto one of our socialising dog hours at a discounted rate!
