💚🥝 Kiwi 21/10/16 - 10/07/22 🥝💚

Our darling Kiwi went to the bridge this afternoon after spending a few precious hours at home with his family. He was so excited to see them and briefly became young and carefree again with the joy of seeing them. He enjoyed basking in the sunshine, playing with them with his beloved ball, eating lots of goodies and being cuddled. He died peacefully in their arms and leaves a huge hole in all of our hearts. Run free our beautiful boy, you will be missed so very much 😭🐾🌈

Hi everyone, Kiwi here! All my tests results are now back in and I’m really sad to have to tell you that I am a lot more poorly than anyone thought 😞 My CT scan and biopsies have diagnosed that I have cancer in my liver, lymph nodes and also a carcinoma in my colon. It is aggressive and may have developed very quickly hence why any previous results didn’t show anything up. Unfortunately non of it is treatable or curable so they are just making me comfortable and making sure I am happy. I had a lovely afternoon yesterday with my buddies, I love being out with the gang and playing with my ball, I am so happy when I’m with them. I am ok for the moment but it won’t be long before I have to say a final farewell to you all and make my way to the bridge. Please keep me in your thoughts

Hi everyone, I’m back from my overnight stay at Leahurst. I was ever such a good boy and found I was a firm favourite with the vets and taught them how to roll my ball so I could catch it and nudge it back to them. I had a CT scan this morning followed by biopsies of the mass in my colon. The blood work, examination and scan showed I have elevated liver enzymes, enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen and nodules on my liver. Unfortunately this all points towards it being cancer which may have metastasised. We will wait to see what the results say though. I’ve been given pain relief to make me more comfortable and I was glad to see KWL who brought me back to my kennel. I’ll be happy to be snuggled up in my own bed again tonight as it appears to have gone back to winter again 💚🥝💚🥝

Well that’s me in over night at Leahurst, I trotted in with the nice vet ladies with a ball in my mouth. Tomorrow I’ll be having more bloods taken, a colonoscopy and a CT scan. KWL gave me a cuddle and a kiss and told me how special I was and that my fan club is thinking of me. See you all very soon 💚🥝💚🥝

I’ve had another great day and I think KWL is very pleased with my progress. I got to meet a new Kelpie Welfare dog today called Ted, he lives in the kennel next to me and we got to have a chat. We went out for a run around together and discovered we have something in common, BALLS! Who’d have thought it! 😃. Here I am with my mates 🥰

I’ve had a super day and I’m settling back into kennels very well. KWL came to see me today and brought my pals Tilly and Barry to see me, I was ever so pleased to see them again and enjoyed 20 mins in the paddock having a run about with them, I think I may have worked up an appetite 🍽

So yesterday the Kelpie Welfare lady took me to the vets again, so far I've had nearly a £1000 spent on investigations & medicines , , the last few weeks I’ve been having steroid injections to see if it helps to reduce the inflammation in my tummy with an added bonus of improving my appetite. I’ve been having trouble going for a 💩 and it hurts making me cry. KWL mentioned this to the nice vet who then proceeded to poke me up the bottom 😳 She said she could feel a reasonable side lump just inside so next week I’m off to Leahurst Veterinary teaching hospital for more tests. Wish me luck!! & Huge Thank-you to everyone who donates to help Dogs like me 🧡

Hi everyone, my name is Kiwi and I am a 6 year old Australian Kelpie x Border Collie. I began life on a farm but never much liked the thought of working sheep. I think the other dogs there didn’t like me as they used to bully me so I spent a lot of time locked in a cage for my own safety. I was sold on to another farmer where I was bullied by dogs again until one day a lovely couple came and took me home with them. I loved them very much and they loved me, I spent the next few years of my life as a pampered and happy pet dog, that is until we moved house and their baby was born. I really didn’t like the new house as it was in a city and there were too many loud noises. I got even more upset when the baby cried, I know she can’t help it but it effects my tummy you see as I have Colitis and when I get upset or frightened things happen in my tummy that I can’t control. My Mummy and Daddy had to make the heart breaking decision to find me a new home so I could be happy again, I didn’t like seeing them so upset but I was very brave. I moved into a kennel under the care of Kelpie Welfare and feel more at ease having my own space. I get to go out every day with the other dogs and sometimes I get treated to a trip to the beach or the woods. Please follow my story to learn more about me, one day soon I hope to have my own home again but it will have to be with someone who understands that my tummy doesn’t always behave itself and where it is fairly quiet and relaxed.
