Mantrailing.
The search for a specific person with your dog. Dogs have up to 300,000,000 scent receptors just ready to play this game. Matching the scent from an article left behind by a person who then goes off to hide, leaving a trail of scent as they walk away. Your dog matches the scent from the article to the scent fallen on the path of the hidden person to locate their hiding place.
Yes, you can run from the dog but you cannot hide!
Your job?
As handler, you have control of your dog on a long line and communicate via this line. Allowing your dog to trail freely, without being restricted or influenced by the line requires you to follow their movement keeping yourself in synch.
Be in awe at their ability to sniff out the trail, join in the celebration and excitement on finding the hidden person.

But dogs love it!
They have up to 300,000,000 scent receptors waiting to do just this, they are designed to sniff out and follow scent trails. It’s a proven fact that scentwork of any kind grows dogs confidence, increases optimism and is more tiring that just going for a walk.
Trailing is done in the great outdoors, known to improve human mental health, and gets in a few steps to help the waistline. Add those benefits together and you have the perfect recipe for a fun time with your dog, with the added benefit of spending time with your dog, growing your understanding of each other.
