✨ Meet Luna! ✨
This little superstar is working her way through our Puppy Apprenticeship Scheme, and today was her third session! 🐾
Her caregivers have been learning all about problem prevention, how to help Luna feel comfortable being left alone, and handling those puppy nips and jumps.
In this session, Luna learned how to respond to a marker word, make great decisions, show some self-control, AND even mastered the “down” cue! 👏

The first few weeks after bringing your puppy home are some of the most critical in their life. This period involves significant changes, such as adjusting to a new environment and being separated from their mum and littermates. These formative weeks are crucial for their development, with the initial socialisation phase ending around 12-16 weeks. During this time, it's important to expose your puppy positively to various experiences they will encounter as adults. However, this process can be challenging, as each puppy adapts at their own pace. What might be enjoyable for one puppy could be terrifying for another. A well-run puppy class can be integral to raising a happy and healthy puppy. Our classes inform you about normal dog behaviour, body language, communication, and socialisation. We teach caregivers how to train their puppies, guiding them through teaching behaviours and cueing. Puppies learn how to interact appropriately with other dogs and how to work with you despite the distractions of other dogs and people. It's far more important for puppies to learn how to relax and be calm around other dogs and people than to engage in intense play. 🐶

You're not alone—many new puppy caregivers feel the same way, and we're here to help. 🐾
Raising a puppy can be hard work, and some are particularly challenging.
We offer non-judgmental advice on various puppy issues, including (but not limited to) mouthing, chewing, stealing, separation-related issues, and house training.

For personalised advice on specific behaviours that concern you, we recommend our Positive Puppy Apprenticeship Scheme. We offer one-on-one help, either in person at our clinic near Chester or online via video call.

Most people believe it will never happen to their dog, yet every year dogs continue to die in hot cars ⚠️

Polling from the RSPCA (England & Wales) has revealed that only 58% of people would NOT leave their dog inside a car on a warm day, meaning more than 40% may potentially put their pets at risk!

Please don’t gamble with your dog’s life. Even if you're leaving them in the car for a minute or two, this could still lead to tragic consequences for your dog. Even if you're parked in the shade with the windows open, a car can still quickly heat up to dangerously high temperatures 🌡️

Remember: 'not long' is too long.

If you see a dog in a hot car showing signs of distress such as panting heavily, drooling excessively, appearing lethargic, drowsy or uncoordinated, collapsed or vomiting, dial 999 immediately.

Our advanced class has been focusing on enhancing strength and proprioception, aiming to prevent potential musculoskeletal issues down the road. Here, they are refining their posture and transitioning between positions, while also honing their proprioceptive skills and building confidence on various surfaces.🐶🐾
