TRAVELLING IN HOT WEATHER ☀️

As things heat up across the UK, it's vital to keep ponies comfortable when travelling to polo this summer. Follow the DEFRA guidance below:

🚫 Do not transport horses in temperatures over 30°C (unless you have a temperature-controlled horsebox)
🚫 Check the 'feels like' temperature for the intended route if the humidity is high

✅ Plan to avoid transporting horses in the hotter parts of the day - travel in the early morning or overnight where possible
✅ Have a contingency plan in place
✅ Make sure all watering and ventilation systems are fully functional
✅ Ensure regular access to fresh water and travel with more water than you think you need
✅ Travel fewer horses at a time and increase headroom
✅ Park in shaded areas if stopping
✅ Check the horses more often for signs of heat stress

Fun afternoon welcoming the .western.equ.team to England and showing them the joys of polo!

During their lesson with us they covered polo tack, polo riding, polo swing instruction, stick and ball (hitting the ball whilst riding), polo rules and tactics and then ended their day with a fun match against each other.
