My name is Cathrine and I am a small Fife registered hobby breeder of the traditional Siberian Cat. My main aim is to breed for health and temperament.

It is also a huge bonus if I can help people with allergies be able to live with a kitten. All the kittens so far has gone to allergy homes. Why the name Rusik? Rusik was the first Russian police sniffer cat at Stavropol near the Caspian sea. He made an important contribution in the search for hidden illegal cargoes of Sturgeon fish, an endangered species, and caviar. Rusik began his crime-fightin
g career when he appeared at the police checkpoint in 2002. Following his adoption by the staff, Rusik demonstrated his ability to sniff out sturgeon-smugglers' stashes with astonishing accuracy. His talent for sniffing out poached fish soon found him taking over the job of the police's canine team member. Rusik died in the line of duty on 12 July 2003, when he was hit by a mafia owned car during an inspection. He had apparently found smuggled sturgeon in the same car some time before, according to personnel at the police checkpoint. Some local sources expressed their belief that Rusik was the object of a contract killing, but the truth is still unclear.

I’d like to talk about cat weight and obesity in cats. Many Siberian owners come to me and tell me their vet has told them their cat is overweight.
They often say that the vet doesn’t understand the Siberian breed, but I’d like to just say that generally a vet does not need to understand any particular breed to tell if a cat is overweight or not. They learn to judge the condition of the cat, not look at the number on the scale.
So for example my big 7 kgs breeding male, Odin, is not overweight. He is pure muscle. But my smaller boy Cyrus is 6 kg and is overweight. How does that work?
It all comes down to body condition. Odin is broad, muscly and 4 years old. Cyrus is not as broad (he will be in time) and only 1 year old, but absolutely loves his food. He isn’t hugely overweight, but he has a fat pouch between his back legs. So Cyrus is on a diet and not allowed near the fridge😂.
Siberians do not keep growing until they are 5 years old, but they keep maturing. This means that they will grow wider in the head, shoulders and body. A bit like a teenage boy who might look a bit scrawny as a 15 year old, but by the time they are 18-20 years old their shoulders, chest and jaw have got wider. Similar with Siberians. They don’t continue growing, just maturing.
I think it’s very important to be aware of the chart below. Obesity is cats can cause some horrible health conditions, for example diabetes, which again can lead to other life threatening conditions.
Siberians have been shown to have an obesity gene, therefore it’s important to be aware and manage your cats weight and diet accordingly.

G-litter is growing up. 9 weeks already! They’ve had their first vet check and vaccine! Although it was a bit scary leaving the nursery for the first time, they did great!!

We went to a LCWW cat show this weekend and had lots of fun.
I'm very happy to announce that Rusik Fantastic Ffion achieved the title of Junior Grand Champion. Very happy with this result. She got 9 out of 10 finals and had very positive comments from the judges. Very promising girl.
Also very happy to announce that our Rusik Delightful Freyja achieved the title of adult Champion..
Our silver girl Rusik Excellent Ella also did well and got several finals, although difficult to compete against Ffion and a very large silver neva masquerade from a different breeder.
All in all a great weekend with fab results for our cattery😊 Big tanks to all the judges and organisers😊

Mia's kittens are doing really well. 5 days old and she incredibly sweet. Gaining really well. The biggest boy is 245 grams already, smallest girl is 207 grams, so they are all very big! 2 x boys, 2x girls

We have just had this lovely update from Chulym's new slaves😊. It is always hard to let our adult breeding cats go to new families, especially someone like Chulym who is such a huge lovely character. Therefore knowing how happy he is in his retirement is hugely important and we stay in touch with everyone😍
Hi Cathrine! It’s been a while since I’ve sent you some pics so i thought I’d give you a little update on Chulym! We love him so much and constantly remark to each other on how amazing and sweet and cute he is. It’s too much to handle sometimes! He keeps my husband company while he works from home on his little bed outside his office, cuddles on top of us every morning in bed and any time we’re on the sofa, and loves getting a first row seat to our roasts😂We’re currently wondering when his mane is going to fall out…🤔we couldn’t believe how long it grew! We’re constantly brushing it out of his mouth😂He has made our lives so full of joy and we just couldn’t be more grateful how it all worked out! Hope all is well and can’t wait to see how the newborn kitties all grow up! xx

I often get asked for recommendations on what harness to use for cats.
Over the years my own customers have often said Olivia Cat jackets are great. So last weekend I brought one adult harness and one kitten harness with me to the cat show to try out.
Look at Cyrus and Ella looking very handsome wearing their new cat jackets.
These are very sturdy and I would think even for the most gifted houdini would be hard to get out of😊.

Great weekend at Viking Cat Club show at Leamington Spa.
All cats did well.
Rusik Fantastic Ffion received two EX1 CACC certificates counting towards her kitten champion title. And today she won BIV title against some other gorgeous Siberians.
Rusik Excellent Ella received two EX1 CACC certificates counting towards her kitten champion title.
Rusik Charming Cyrus received one EX1 CACJ certificate counting towards his junior champion title.
NO*StiSi Mikito received two CAC points counting towards his adult champion title.
All cats received great components from the judges especially for their strong build and boning.

NO*StiSi Mikito is 10 months old. A big teddy bear. Incredibly difficult to photograph as he generally just rolls over for tummy rubs or head butts the camera (see last picture)😂.

Amazing weekend away at LCWW cat show at the NEC in Birmingham.
We three cats with us this time.
Our very young home bred 4 month old Rusik Charming Cyrus.
No*StiSi Mikito our 8 month old sliver mackerel tabby.
We also decided to let Sayadaws Glorious Raze of Rusik come out of retirement and a try out the cat walk again. He is our 6 year old neutered male that lives here like a very pampered pet.
For Cyrus the cat showing world was completely new. He wasn’t too sure on Saturday but by today he got the hang of it and was playing and showing himself off In a great way.
Mikito was his normal totally relaxed charming self. Loved by the judges and everyone else that meets him. He’s a true performer and thrives on the attention.
Raze was not too sure about leaving his retired spot on the sofa and come back into the limelight. Although he took it all in his stride and behaved very well, i felt that he looked at me every now and again with this questioning look that said, ‘really, mum?’😂.
All three did really well.
Mikito was again a star and was awarded a final in every ring. This led to receiving 2nd best of the best junior, which we are over the moon about.
Cyrus has steep competition from 3 other lovely Siberian kittens. The different judges seemed to like different things about these kittens so the places and finals were spread around. But Cyrus did win a couple of rings where he was deemed best kitten overall. Very happy with is promising boy.
Raze got 9 out of 10 finals and placed 1st in two of them. The judges were really impressed with his size, how muscular he is and the quality of his fur. He also has a great temperament and even though he didn’t want to play like the younger boys , he was quite happy to be held by everyone and enjoyed all the
attention.
Thank you so much to all the judges for thinking so highly about our cats.

WOW what an amazing weekend at LCWW Liverpool Extravaganza cat show. NO*StiSi Mikito got 9 out of 10 possible finals. 1x4th place, 4x 3rd place, 2 x 2nd place and 2 x 1st place. And then as a total surprise to us, he got Second place Best of the Best Junior. We are over the moon with this boy. He behaved impeccably and was loving every minute, purring on the show bench and charming the judges We also brought Rusik Magnificent Mamma Mia with us. She got 8 out of 10 possible finals. A mix of results but her best day being Saturday with a 2nd and 3rd place. An amazing weekend. Thank you to all the judges, Craig Dryden who thought so highly of Mikito and gave him 1st place on both days. We spoke to lots of people, it was very busy. Apologizes to anyone who wanted to chat more but we had to run to a ring😊
Videos like this makes me so incredibly happy. Bodhi left for his new slaves yesterday and he’s already this chilled out and relaxed. It’s always a very stressful time for us when they leave us not knowing how they will settle. We are so lucky to have the absolute best owners for our adorable kittens🥰❤️❤️❤️
Apollo, August, Athena and Albie for neutered today. They are going absolutely mental! Somehow they think my slipoers is some kind of animal they have to kill several times. Proper teeth and claws🙈🙈🙉. This is sometimes how anaesthetic affects kittens. But it is good it's done and they can come home to mum to settle and recover before moving to their new homes in a couple of weeks😻. These kittens are big, all around 2 kgs at 12 weeks so there is no issue at all neutering at this age.

4 weeks old today and have started exploring the kitten room😻. 3 out of four were brave enough to taste mummys food. They start by just tasting the food then ramp up the amounts every day. In a week they'll be eating quite a lot😊

Einehaugen's Gunder at LCWW cat show in Manchester today. He is only 5 months and it was his first show, so a bit overwhelmed. But he did incredibly well regardless. Lots of lovely comments from the judges. The video shows him in the room where he got second best allbreed kitten😊
Rusik Mamma Mia did really well at LCWW cat show in Manchester today. Got finalled in all 5 rings. Three 2nd best long haired cat, one 8th best and one 10th best allbreed cat.
Chulym, the king of my cattery. 5 years old in 2 weeks. Over 7 kgs of pure love. He is fierce but a total softee at the same time. He is just amazing! No other way to describe him😻😻😻. Dearly loved by anyone who meets him. Thank you, Olga Dudievska for trusting me with him almost 5 years ago!!
