My name is Cathrine and I am a small Fife registered hobby breeder of the traditional Siberian Cat. My main aim is to breed for health and temperament.

It is also a huge bonus if I can help people with allergies be able to live with a kitten. All the kittens so far has gone to allergy homes. Why the name Rusik? Rusik was the first Russian police sniffer cat at Stavropol near the Caspian sea. He made an important contribution in the search for hidden illegal cargoes of Sturgeon fish, an endangered species, and caviar. Rusik began his crime-fightin

g career when he appeared at the police checkpoint in 2002. Following his adoption by the staff, Rusik demonstrated his ability to sniff out sturgeon-smugglers' stashes with astonishing accuracy. His talent for sniffing out poached fish soon found him taking over the job of the police's canine team member. Rusik died in the line of duty on 12 July 2003, when he was hit by a mafia owned car during an inspection. He had apparently found smuggled sturgeon in the same car some time before, according to personnel at the police checkpoint. Some local sources expressed their belief that Rusik was the object of a contract killing, but the truth is still unclear.

Very happy day in the Rusik cattery today.
We have had 9 of our cats heart scanned by board certified cardiologist Vicky Ironside and are happy to report that everyone has healthy hearts.

The cats scanned were:
Chudacha Zaimka (4th scan)
Einhaugens Yamila (2nd scan)
Felississmus Amara (2nd scan)
Einhaugens Gunder ( 2nd scan)
Rusik Fantastic Ffion (1st scan)
Rusik Excellent Ella (1st scan)
Rusik Magnificent Mamma Mia (2nd scan)
Rusik Odin (3rd scan)
Rusik Eydis (2nd scan)

Stisi Mikito and Rusik Delightful Freyja was heart scanned earlier this year, which means all adult cats in the cattery have healthy hearts at the moment.
Only the two youngsters to scan when they turn a year old.

Hi, I'm Lana!

I'm a seven year old former breeding cat turned gorgeous family pet.

I am the friendliest cat you will ever meet. I love cuddles, affection, being on laps, being brushed, and even climbing onto shoulders! I am confident, curious and can be chatty. I like to chase laser pointers. I like kids but prefer to be the only pet. Be careful leaving your food out in the kitchen, I can't resist having a nose!

I am looking for a loving home where I can be given lots of attention and care. I'll be a devoted companion and will delight your guests with my friendly nature - I've never met a lap I didn't like! I have some plaque on my teeth, but otherwise I'm in great health and should be with you for many years to come.

My current family has had some health needs arise, which mean they can't look after me properly anymore. They would like nothing more than to see me go to a loving home.

Xavi has now been with us for a almost a month and he's developing nicely. 3.3 kgs today and loves his food.
He's tested clear on his PCR tests and FIV/FELV tests so introduction to the other cats underway. We take it slowly so that nobody gets to stressed😊.
He's still very cuddly and starts purring if I just look at him😻😻

Our beautiful girl Khaleesi who is 3 years old is looking for a new lap for cuddles. Khaleesi is now neutered after having had two litters in our cattery. It is time for her to find some lovely new slaves.
Khaleesi is very cuddly when she gets to know you. She’s been an outstanding mother and we love her so much.
She needs a very special lap.

They H-litter is growing up quickly.
We have Hannah, Hermes-Cosmo, Hera-Luna and Hugo.
We couldn't resist Hannah so she'll be staying with us as a future queen.

I’d like to talk about cat weight and obesity in cats. Many Siberian owners come to me and tell me their vet has told them their cat is overweight.
They often say that the vet doesn’t understand the Siberian breed, but I’d like to just say that generally a vet does not need to understand any particular breed to tell if a cat is overweight or not. They learn to judge the condition of the cat, not look at the number on the scale.

So for example my big 7 kgs breeding male, Odin, is not overweight. He is pure muscle. But my smaller boy Cyrus is 6 kg and is overweight. How does that work?
It all comes down to body condition. Odin is broad, muscly and 4 years old. Cyrus is not as broad (he will be in time) and only 1 year old, but absolutely loves his food. He isn’t hugely overweight, but he has a fat pouch between his back legs. So Cyrus is on a diet and not allowed near the fridge😂.

Siberians do not keep growing until they are 5 years old, but they keep maturing. This means that they will grow wider in the head, shoulders and body. A bit like a teenage boy who might look a bit scrawny as a 15 year old, but by the time they are 18-20 years old their shoulders, chest and jaw have got wider. Similar with Siberians. They don’t continue growing, just maturing.

I think it’s very important to be aware of the chart below. Obesity is cats can cause some horrible health conditions, for example diabetes, which again can lead to other life threatening conditions.
Siberians have been shown to have an obesity gene, therefore it’s important to be aware and manage your cats weight and diet accordingly.

We went to a LCWW cat show this weekend and had lots of fun.
I'm very happy to announce that Rusik Fantastic Ffion achieved the title of Junior Grand Champion. Very happy with this result. She got 9 out of 10 finals and had very positive comments from the judges. Very promising girl.
Also very happy to announce that our Rusik Delightful Freyja achieved the title of adult Champion..
Our silver girl Rusik Excellent Ella also did well and got several finals, although difficult to compete against Ffion and a very large silver neva masquerade from a different breeder.
All in all a great weekend with fab results for our cattery😊 Big tanks to all the judges and organisers😊

Amazing weekend away at LCWW cat show at the NEC in Birmingham. We three cats with us this time. Our very young home bred 4 month old Rusik Charming Cyrus. No*StiSi Mikito our 8 month old sliver mackerel tabby. We also decided to let Sayadaws Glorious Raze of Rusik come out of retirement and a try out the cat walk again. He is our 6 year old neutered male that lives here like a very pampered pet. For Cyrus the cat showing work was completely new. He wasn’t too sure on Saturday but by today he got the hang of it and was playing and showing himself off In a great way. Mikito was his normal totally relaxed charming self. Loved by the judges and everyone else that meets him. He’s a true performer and thrives on the attention. Raze was not too sure about leaving his retired spot on the sofa and come back into the limelight. Although he took it all in his stride and behaved very well, i felt that he looked at me every now and again with this questioning look that said, ‘really, mum?’😂. All three did really well. Mikito was again a star and was awarded a final in every ring. This led to receiving 2nd best of the best junior, which we are over the moon about. Cyrus has steep competition from 3 other lovely Siberian kittens. The different judges seemed to like different Thomas about these kittens so the plains and finals were spread around. But Cyrus did win a couple of rings where he was deemed best kitten overall. Very happy with is promising boy. Raze got 9 out of 10 finals and placed 1st in two of them. The judges were really impressed with his size, how muscular he is and the quality of his fur. He also has a great temperament and even though he didn’t want to play like the younger boys , he was quite happy to be held by everyone and enjoyed all the attention.
