Just like us if we injure ourselves during exercise or through wear and tear as we age, our pets can also end up with discomfort or pain in their limbs, causing lameness.

This may be a breed disposition like hip dysplasia in dogs, your cat jumping from a fence at an odd angle and injuring their leg, or perhaps an aging pet showing the first signs of osteoarthritis.

🔹If you think your pet is struggling with movement or doesn’t seem themselves, please give us a call today to book an appointment 📞

This is the very handsome George 🐈 who has just been in to see our lovely nurse Debs 🥰 to be fitted for a buster collar after his castrate yesterday.
His owner was concerned he might be having a sneaky lick which of course is a big no no as it could infect his wound 😲. He was very relaxed in the nurse consult room getting comfy on the chair ❤️.
Heal up soon George ❤️‍🩹 and no licking ☺️

Conkers may be fun to play with but they are also a choking hazard, and can potentially cause bowel obstructions if swallowed whole, which may require emergency surgery.

🔸The toxic ingredient in conkers is also found in the leaves and bark of the tree, so keep an eye out to make sure your pet doesn't eat these either!

❗️Signs of horse chestnut poisoning to look for in your pet include:
vomiting and diarrhoea, excessive drooling, excessive thirst or reduced appetite.

In severe cases, ingestion can cause muscle tremors or seizures.

Sadly we have had a deceased, male, neutered, tabby cat brought in to us this afternoon. He was found in the Brimington area. Unfortunately he is not microchipped.

We think he is probably around 7 years old, and looks like he may have had some dental work done at some point.

If you have any information that may help find his owner please contact our Chesterfield branch on 01246 273392

🤔 Considering pet insurance or a preventative healthcare plan?

These are not the same and serve different purposes.

🔹Pet insurance can cover unexpected accidents or illnesses which
may come your pets way.

🔹Preventative healthcare schemes, such as The Healthy Pet Club, focus on keeping your pet healthy and protected on an everyday basis. For example, covering their vaccinations, parasite control and health checks.

Find out more about preventative healthcare schemes and pet
insurance here:

🌳There is an abundance of acorns currently adorning our wonderful oak trees. However acorns can pose a risk to our pets if ingested!

❗️Signs of acorn poisoning to look for include:
vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and dehydration.

In rare cases, untreated incidents of acorn poisoning have led to kidney and liver failure, so always speak to your vet as soon as possible if you suspect your pet has ingested acorns.

They are also a choking hazard and can cause intestinal damage if ingested whole!

🧡 Meet handsome little Reggie (with the most amazing eyebrows!)

Reggie had been displaying signs of discomfort in his ear. Following an exam under sedation (the exam was a bit too painful for Reggie without sedation) we found this rather large grass seed; the cause of Reggie's discomfort!

Both ears were cleaned and checked for any other issues and, following a relaxing time in his kennel, where he gave us a great pose for photos, Reggie went home feeling much better 🥰

🧡This handsome gentleman is Brodie. He came to our Dobbies branch for neutering last week, and took everything in his stride.

Here he is, legs crossed, chilling in one of our large kennels, with his cosy blankets and an empty feed bowl (It was full, but he demolished his post op meal 😂).

🧡 We loved having you here Brodie, and we look forward to seeing you for your post op checks.
