🍂 Seasonal Canine Illness 🍂

🍁As we start to enjoy crunchy-leaved autumn walks, it's important to be aware of Seasonal Canine Illness (SCI) - a rare condition that can affect dogs during the autumn months.
Symptoms usually appear 1-3 days after a woodland walk. These symptoms can have many causes, but it's worth knowing that SCI is one possibility, even though it's thankfully very rare.

🍁Some areas are known to be associated with cases and we advise looking out for signage and keeping an eye on local news. Don’t worry though - the vast majority of woodland walks are perfectly safe.

What causes SCI?

The exact cause is still unknown; awareness and early treatment is key.

Worried about your dog?

😺 When the post op munchies kick in 😸

Meet beautiful little Luna, tucking into her post op meal with enthusiasm following her spay at our Mansfield branch. She was definitely feeling fine with her cosy blankets and our nurse Rachel to provide head rubs 🥰

🧡 Have you ever seen a more relaxed pup? 🧡

This is the gorgeous Gus, who has been coming for his free monthly weight checks. As a member of the Healthy Pet Club Gus gets flea and worm treatment included in his plan. To ensure he is getting the correct dose he comes for regular check ups with our nurses.

As you can see he takes it all in his stride and even finds time for a nap 🥱😍

💛 Celebrate with us as we award the lovely Luna her Happy Visit graduation certificate! 🥳🥳🥳

🐾 When Luna first came to us she used to hide under our stairs, feeling unsure in the practice environment and worried about clinical exams, so Luna's owner joined up with our nurses for some Happy Visits.

🐾 During her Happy Visits our nurses, Debs and Rhian, spent time with Luna; gaining her trust and helping her to feel relaxed.
With repeated positive experiences Luna has developed her confidence coming into the practice, and now happily gives out kisses and cuddles during a full clinical exam!

💛 We are SO proud of you Luna!

🔹Hip dysplasia is a developmental condition in dogs. This is usually due to genetic predisposition and the dysplasia develops or worsens as the dog grows.

🔹Hip dysplasia can occur in any breed of dog. It is typically associated with large breed such as Labradors, German Shepherds, Rottweilers and Saint Bernards, but is increasingly being diagnosed in smaller breeds such as French Bulldogs.
