🍂 Toxins your pet should avoid during autumn 🍂

🌧 The increase in rain during autumn can cause an influx of wild mushrooms, as they thrive in damp climates. You may come across them on walks, or they may appear in your garden.

🍄 It can be very difficult to determine whether a particular mushroom is safe to eat, as many can look very similar but have very different toxicity levels.

If you suspect your pet has ingested wild mushrooms, speak to a vet as soon as possible.
Also, try and either take a sample or get a photo of the type of mushroom you think your pet may have ingested, as it may help the vet to identify the type of toxin and effectively treat it. 📷

Happy Visit Graduation Day! 🐶🐾.
Here is the wonderful Finn. He has been coming to see our lovely RVN Debs for Happy Visits. Finn was really anxious and worried about being at the vets and used to hide and not enjoy interactions or examinations. With some regular visits and with a slow pace and some encouragement Finn loves coming to the vets! He is much more confident and we are able to perform a full examination on him! His Owners and Debs are super proud 🥹 and the Carrick Team are impressed with his progress!

🧡 Halloween is a few days away!
Although it can be lots of fun, people dressed in costumes and unexpected knocks at the door can be confusing and scary for many dogs.

Here are our Halloween top tips:

🎃 Be careful when opening the door so your dog doesn’t accidentally
escape
👻 If your dog is really worried, consider a sign saying ‘nervous dog,
please do not knock’. You could still leave treats out for children to
help themselves
🍬 Keep human sweets and chocolate safely out of your dog’s reach
🧛 Costumes can feel restrictive and prevent your pet from communicating their discomfort. Bear this in mind and read your pet's body language if planning a pet Halloween costume.
