As we approach times of celebration with fireworks, it’s crucial for pet owners to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of their furry friends.

Here are some essential tips from Drone To Home:

1. Secure Your Garden Gates:
Make sure all garden gates are closed and locked. A frightened dog can easily find an escape route if gates are left open.

2. Leave Music On:
If you’re heading out, leave some calming music on in the house. This can help drown out the noise of fireworks and keep your dog more relaxed.

3. Use Leads in Parks and Open Spaces: Keep your dog on a lead when walking in parks or open spaces, especially in areas known for setting off fireworks.This will prevent them from running off if they get startled.

4. Create a Safe Space:
Set up a quiet, cozy area where your pet feels comfortable. Cover their den or crate with heavy blankets and position it away from windows and external noise.

5. Use Calming Products:
Consider using calming sprays, drops, plug-in diffusers, or anxiety wraps to help your dog feel more secure.

6. Walk Your Dog During Daylight Hours: Avoid walking your dog during times when fireworks are likely to be set off. Walk them earlier in the day instead.

7. Close Windows and Curtains:
Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworks and block out flashes of light.

8. Keep Pets Indoors:
Keep your pets indoors during fireworks to reduce the risk of injury or stress. Ensure windows, doors, and cat flaps are shut.
