Practice makes perfect! π This handsome little man joined us just before Christmas. Being a golden retriever I had a feeling his biggest obstacle would be engagement around other dogs and people, they're just so happy and sociable all the time! But we've started building a bond and slowly moved into different environments and introduced distractions such as The Boss! Can't wait to see this boy in group!

Never a dull walk with the Daisy Dogs.

Off lead heel work at the start of the walk with this little pack, Brambly will follow soon too. π
Practicing and rewarding calm behavior at the start of every walk for the last seven years. Calmness in dogs is like a muscle, if you don't use it you lose it. We do this to set a precedent for all of our walks, and the behavior we expect to see from the Daisy Dogs. This is Nova's second ever group walk and she's already twigged what's expected of her, whether it's in a solo or group setting. Always proud of my Daisy Dogs.πͺ

For nearly six years he's been the perfect Head Daisy Dog, assisting me with every aspect of this business. Lending his bomb proof temperament and indifference to dogs to the job. Overseeing the integration of all new dogs, especially the old, young or fearful! Helping teach dog etiquette, or just like here, providing a distraction while we train other dogs. He's even there during tax returns, usually squeaking a toy at me...π³
But after his eighth birthday I have definitely noticed some cheeky behaviors creeping in, and each one makes me smile, I'm so proud he's my boy and comes to work with me every day.

I still remember the first time I saw a sight hound run as a kid, mind blown! That frail looking little dog, whose legs I could literally see the sun shining through, could out run any other dog I'd ever seen. π€― I'd never seen muscles on a dog like it! Genetic predisposition is the thing I love most about dogs, seeing working dogs do what they were bred to do, all those generations of selective breeding making them the top of their game is something special. Skye was made for speed! Seeing this little girl able to run until her heart's content today made me smile a lot, almost as much as Oreos face when she was being beaten by a dog who is nearly ten! Fair to say they became best mates today. π₯°

Here's The Boss, at the zoo last month. π A lot of you know that I'm super proud of the dog Otto is. The fact I can take him anywhere is absolutely priceless. I got my dream dog the day I found him, and we work hard every day maintaining his training through environmentals and exposure amongst many, many other things!
I know a lot of you have the summer holidays coming up so thought it was an ideal time to share a day out that you can literally take all the family on. This is hands down the best thought out zoo I have ever been to, the layout is perfect for dogs and kids, plenty of space and shade if it's warm.
Massive thank you to Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens for being dog friendly, we'll definitely visit again!
